M-audio profire 2626

I have no amp at the moment, I would simply record the DI with a sim in insert. Just wanted to know if the profire in itself lets you have decent DIs, as Williamn asked too :)

The instrument inputs are fine. Get a DI box when you've got some spare cash but there are probably more important places to put your money (mics, monitors, room treatment, plugins etc)

i get a blue screen every other day. maybe i just need to fuck with the buffer size then?

without the profire on, i never get ANY, so i'm pretty sure it's a profire thing.

i dont have a 2626, but i did just get a profire 610 (same thing, less channels), if you only need 2 channels, get the 610, its incredible =D

Take a picture of the screen when it happens and upload it here. Google the numbers "0x0000031" or whatever it says you know. Well, I'd like to see what it says anyway so if you could get a picture with a camera phone or whatever and upload it, it'd be nice. Otherwise you won't solve this problem.

I get a BSOD when I use my Profire 2626 as well. It would happen about once a day. M-Audio has been unable to reproduce the problem (there's a giant thread on their forum) so it looks like we're simply stuck.

B/c of this, I've been using my Focusrite Liquid Saffire 56 instead

I should mention: the BSOD does not happen if I have my mobo audio set as default audio device. The Profire can be on and connected, but set the onboard mobo soundcard as default. Then the profire works in DAW, but not for windows sounds - super annoying

Never had a blue screen of doom with mine.

Profire 2626 is absolutely amazing even over and above it's price range.

That's the same as what I said above, run a cable from the onboard to the profire have it always monitoring, done.

Oh and btw, I think I believe in supernatural forces and jinxes and all that shit. Seriously... I got a BSOD the next day after reading these BSOD posts, haven't had a BSOD for 4 months before that. I was thinking "Man, I'm glad I don't have any BSODs..." and BAM. FUCK!

It happened while I was playing some music in VLC and installing a big ass application at the same time. The M-Audio drivers might be unstable and I guess it couldn't handle the traffic in the computer busses from installing an application and listening to music at the same time. Can't remember having any BSOD while I've been in my DAW though but just because I said that now I will probably get a BSOD as soon as I fire up the DAW tonight. Argh.
