M-audio profire 2626

Does this increase the round-trip latency?

latency is irrelevant for this task, but besides that there is 0 latency because it's direct monitoring.

anyone notice that the newest driver doesn't have a taskbar icon anymore? Is that just me?

I made a shortcut (ctrl+alt+num0) to launch the control panel but there was always an icon before.

I just installed it and had to find the Windows 7 beta drivers... Was a pain before I understood I had to go through the maudio forum to find it.

That's the same as what I said above, run a cable from the onboard to the profire have it always monitoring, done.

I guess that would work but that's super unnecessary to me. I shouldn't have to come up with work-arounds for a $700 interface. My $400 Alesis interface didn't cause BSODs (it had it's own issues tbh, but not random computer crashes). I'm just using my Focusrite Liquid Saffire 56 instead and Profire if I need extra pres.

I hate you guys for mentioning the blue screen thing. It has now started occuring for me as well, FAAAAAAAWK! The first thing that happened today when I logged in on Windows on the studio computer - BAM!! BSOD. Like, just after I pressed enter after typing the password for the login, when it goes about playing that shitty Windows startup sound - it crashed sysaudio.sys again. Fucking Profire =( Flawless unit apart from that shit.

If it happens during sessions, I might consider doing that workaround with the onboard audio and crap but seriously, I shouldn't have to. Damn M-Audio, fix this shit already!

I seriously haven't gotten a BSoD in at least 3 years... (and before that, they were incredibly infrequent once I went to XP)

I think i had one BSOD at the beginning but since it works well. The only thing for me is that it seems windows sometimes forgets it exists. It is plugged but does not appear in the "sound" preferences in windows 7. I have to unplug/replug for it to work again.
