Here I posted a link which leads to an interview with michael pinnella. I found it very interesting especially where he speaks about the origin of the band's name. erm from what I understood then Symphony x simply means the unknown/ mysterious symphony isnt it?

Pretty sure it's just symphony as in symphonic music and x as a variable to make it sound more metal. I think they've said a few time that there is no deep meaning to it.

Edit: No i don't have a source. Anyone who cares to research it to confirm/deny my post, feel free. I'm almost positive that's what's been said many a time though.
