The Mexican dudes at my restaurant job listen to these guys all the time. And I think they're pretty awesome. Are they too big for ProgPower?

No. However, they have a "reputation" that I would not want to deal with in person. One example is from a former poster who resides in Mexico who posted this in a previous discussion about the band on this forum:

Also, there was a very disgusting incident: After the Show, Mago de Oz destroyed the room in backstage and the hotel's room too (was displayed in local newspapers the morning after).... the reason? they wanted to play 15 minutes more, altering the schedule, the promotor said no, because could not alter the original schedule and the band exploded in rage

stuff like that pisses me off. I hate the whole "lets trash the hotel room thing". People dont think about the poor person who has to clean it all up. What point are you making?? I never got that. Years back on the Powerfest forum people were bragging about how they trashed some of the rooms the fest blocked out for the fest goers and people were posting how funny it was. Why is that funny? All it does it hurt the festival and no hotel will want to work with them again.

I wonder how long ago that was and if it's still true. I would love to see more Folk bands at Progpower, and Mago do Oz would be one of the few high caliber bands that could be called up for PP that fit that bill, and would actually probably bring a fuck ton of people up from FLA.

Wow, that last comment was a bit off color, eh???

I just spoke to a festival promoter who has hosted Mago de Oz before on a headlining tour capacity. He told me that one of the things that impressed him the most was the age range of the fans.... From 8-9 year olds to older (60s and 70s). The band was in their best behavior at the show (financially, everyone did very well). However, he's heard of their behavior in the past and they are known for having been a problematic band in the past. Not sure if that's still the case, but...

The band was not the most approachable... Kind of stuck to being in their hotel and dressing room and didn't really want to deal with anyone.

Fun band (music-wise) nonetheless.

Because how dare I make a comment about how a Spanish speaking band that is extremely popular in a spanish speaking market attract a crowd of it's own target audience that happens to be within easy traveling distance?

Fuck, dude. I know we don't like each other but don't fucking imply I'm racist again. There are so many other, more accurate things about me that are true that you're perfectly welcome to use to call me names without being a fucking shittitbrick.
