I just got home from the show. It kicked ass....did not see any opener...timed it perfectly. Same set list they've been playing.

Must sleep now.

That was a GREAT show!

I feel old, but it really took me back 20 years (which I guess is the idea).

I can't recall the last time I saw a sold out big arena. (Heaven & Hell played an older Philly arena, but it didn't sell out). Although I now appreciate the small venues so I can really see everything, when I was a teen in the mid 80's, it seemed to me that any band that couldn't play the 18,000+ Spectrum (or the outdoor Veteran's or JFK Stadium, or maybe the 4,000 seat Tower theater for the smaller bands) couldn't be that good. I know better now, but that was a fun time.

This was a top arena and they sold out 20,000+ seats. The place was packed. They had an amazing stage set - lights, pyro, props, costumes, and Eddie of course.

The band sounded great, and Dickinson must have traded his long hair for a drink from the fountain of youth. Just a flat out fun show.

I agree, the show blast. It is designed to entertain is has been wll marketed, the songs are all catchy, the production incredible, and yes Dickinson sounds top notch.

So I've seen Maiden ten times now. Oddly, however, I never had the chance during the 80s (my first maiden gig was January 1991 in support of "No Prayer"). Anyway, without any unnecessary hyperbole, this was, by far, the sharpest, most entertaining maiden gig I've had the pleasure to experience!

The reasons for this are many, but aside from the KICK-ASS setlist, the show was carried to a higher dimension by probably the greatest 'front man' exhibition ever - yes Bruce D was on fire! I've ALWAYS been one to critique his live performances (perhaps I was jaded from his 1992 gig at the old NY Ritz, when, quite frankly, he was utter shite), but last night's vocals were probably the closest to his Piece of Mind performance I've yet to hear. You could get high from the power he projected....it was that good. He unleashed vintage screams on Aces High, the end of Run to the Hills, and one or two other tracks that rivaled any of his early 80s works. Seriously. Just amazing!

And, to top it off, his showmanship continues to grow with each tour. His costume accoutrements have expanded to include the 19th century "Trooper" redcoat (he's been wearing this for the past few tours), he donned a rather cool cloak/cape for "Mariner" that gave the impression of being weathertorn & tattered; he introduced a revised Powerslave feather mask that dwarfed the mid-80s version. These items aren't needed, but they do add to the effect.

The set carried no surprises but oddly nothing from Killers was played, and, for reasons unknown, Harris still insists on trotting out the grotesquely played-out "Fear of the Dark". great song, for sure. But it doesn't fit the theme of this tour.

Anyway, I suggest you catch them if you can...money well spent, for sure!

Set list (in order...or close to it!):
Aces high
2 Minutes
Revelations
Trooper
Wased Years
Rime
Powerslave
Number of the Beast
Can I Play with madness
Run to the Hills
Heaven Can Wait
fear of the Dark
Iron Maiden (with SIT era cyborn Eddie)

encores
Moonchild
Clairvoyant
Hallowed Be Thy Name

CURIOUS to know if the guys will mix it up a bit with the 2nd and 3rd LA shows. The forum show was 2/19 and then in May at Irvine on the 30th and 31st. The usually will change up something on a back to back show...the anticipation is building!!

SCREAM FOR ME OLD SCHOOL!! :kickass:

Agree, I love ths song and all but IT WASN'T for this tour, and left "Killers" out ('Wrathchild', 'Killers', 'Purgatory') it's a crime

Same as here, no surprises no changes. I think they planned this too mechanically, it would be cool to change some songs at differents legs of the tour.

BTW, I was sure I listened to 'The Evil That Men Do' here and I even have the recollection of having sing it, my friend Henry was sure they played 'Flight Of Icarus'. He was stoned, I wasn't but we are both wrong

Death Angel - 'Resurrection Machine'

Dickinson was too good to be true. He gave me goosebumps a few times.:worship:

He actually announced the new NY/NJ dates (June) during the show, and kind of hinted they would alter the set list a little bit.

..and I don't want to get on the guy - he has been in Maiden just as long as Adrian - but Janick Gers is really unnecessary. Having 3 guitars on certain songs is VERY cool, but it doesn't outweigh the times when let's just say...he's not a perfectionist. I like perfection with my Maiden.

He has always taken heat for the way he jumps around - whatever - but in addition he's very sloppy. On more than one occasion Dave or Adrian were soloing, and I would hear an awful noise. Then I would look at Janick, and he's strumming his guitar by wacking his guitar cable into the strings, almost in a Page/Blackmore kind of way...but not quite. :zombie::ill: That, too me, is far more annoying than his leg kicks, but they do go hand-in-hand I guess. He never even tries to mimic the Adrian solos he's subbing on. ...which would be nice every now and again. Just senseless, sloppy shredding.

A strange question - I heard recently that Steve Harris had begun, at least on occasion, playing with a pick! Anyone see if that was so? It is hard to believe, as Harris' playing style is itself integral to Maiden's sound. But if age and tendonitis or some such were effecting him, it might not be a choice. I do hope I was misinformed. Anyway, any notice this in the live setting?
