Marriot Hotels ban smoking in all rooms

If you're staying at a Residence, Fairfield, Towne Place or SpringHill you're staying at a Mariott property and the smoking ban is in effect.

Also, Courtyard or Mariott Suites (in Midtown Atlanta).

Its a financial decision. Fact is most people these days want smoke-free rooms. I'm sure they regularly have a situation of 'sorry we only have smoking rooms left.' And if you're a non-smoker, its almost impossible to sleep in a room that is regularly smoked in.

I get ill from being around cigarette smoke – so I think this is great news.

However, you have to wonder how they will enforce it on the back end. Will checking out of a hotel room turn into a walk-around-the-rental-car-and-check-for-dings type of ritual?

Well, considering they have all of your billing info, I'd assume they would just check for signs of someone smoking when they clean your room up and send you a bill afterwards.
