Masterpieces.

I am not an "elitist" in the same way Dying Sun/Falconsbane is. I keep quite high standards but I am not short-sighted enough to belive I am somehow above opinions and personal bias.

I don't mind bands changing if they get better (ie Carcass, Emperor) but Sepultura did their best work on Beneath and Arise, with Chaos AD being average and Roots sucking outright
Everybody usually says Beneath The Remains and Arise as Sepultura's best work but I can't believe not many people say Schizophrenia. Now that is a thrash metal masterpiece with such intensity and depth, if the production wasn't so shitty, I could find it their best album. I get why some hate Roots like you because it sounds pretty basic and predictable but I do like the groove and the tribal percussion. But I think it's stupid how people diss Chaos A.D just because they started slowing down and it wasn't 100% thrash metal. They started showing aggression other than just being speedy.

From my totally subjective point of view (sounds somewhat tautologic, doesn´t it?) it´s a draw between Fear Of God - "Within The Veil" and Atrox - "Terrestrials".

Here is my list, which I'm sure I am most of you will disagree with......

Destroyer 666- Unchain The Wolves
Dissection- The Somberlain
Iron Maiden- The first seven albums!
Mayhem- De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas
Angelcorpse- Exterminate
Axis of Advance- Strike
Order From Chaos- All Releases
Revenge- Superion, Command, Destroy 7"
Morbid Angel- Altars of Madness
Grave- Into the Grave
Dismember- Like an ever flowing stream
Slayer- Show No Mercy

Yeah, Chaos A.D. is a masterpiece indeed. So is Arise, to a degree. BTR and Schizophrenia would be, but hey're too samey-sounding, but BTR is a classic no matter what.

Rammstein's Mutter, also. What a step forward from Sehnsucht!

Oh, and both Down albums.

Blut Aus Nord - Memoria Vertusta:Fathers of the Icy Age
Unknown jewel . Do you have their latest ? I think it's one of the best release this year

I dont mind Rammstein at all, in fact I sort of like them, but to call Mutter a masterpiece is stretching it just a bit dont you think? I do think they are geniuses however in terms of stage production.
