MAYH is more dark and evil then anything in black metal

Hell yes! My Arms Your Hearse reeks of evil and darkness, I adore it. The Amen Corner and of course, Demon of the Fall, are especially evil. It remains as my favourite Opeth album, and probably my favourite ever album.

its my second fav after damnation. its evil!?!?! umm i dunno

I listened to it this one time, and everything clicked, and I was really hooked up in the atmosphere and the story of the album. It was great. Everything on the album seemed so much darker, and I still have that everlasting impression of evil whenever I hear it.

I agree.. April Ethereal was the first song I got into by Opeth... It's fucking evil .... and I think a lot of people will agree that Demon of the fall is a pretty powerful tune on the album and especially live ... or so I hear. I have yet experience Opeth live ..

RIGHT YOU ARE.MAYH is my fave Opeth CD, and their darkest, most painful, evil storyline ever..
I agree there is some lame bm out there as they are all trying to come off as the most evil and extreme..Or "troo"..
Some music does sound pretentious next to Opeth..lol..
MAYH kills..-l-

Hmmm...i never really put Opeth in the "Black Metal" category figuring they were so much better than bands like Dimmu Borgir and Cradle Of Filth....O_o thats just me...
MAYH is a good record...very good record...but evil? hmmm.....

I think it's one of those most evil things that doesn't try really hard to be evil. Or maybe he was, but it doesn't feel like it. But come on, some of the black metal stuff.. those guys were burning churches, their songs were evil and they MEANT it.

The fact that you think BM ends at Dimmu Borgir and Cradle Of Filth explains for itslef that you dont listen to BM really.

Check out......

Darkthrone
Emperor
Gorgoroth
Carpathian Forest
Enslaved (lots of viking too)
Ulver (the early stuff)
Xasthur
Frost

.......to hear some examples of the type of BM that Morgour was comparing to Opeth,in terms of an overall atmosphere of evil. Not nesacerilly(sp) in overall style/genre.
