That's you, JayK, and Zod. J. is somewhere around the corner rocking out to Fear Factory like any sensible person does. :loco:

Nevermore. :yuk:

Hey NADDY, have you heard Nevermore? For some reason, I thought you would dig the hell out of them. Also, wouldn't fans of Fear Factory like Nevermore? At least, they're both technical, aggressive, very cleanly produced, etc. You know, it's all very 'precise'. I don't really know FF, so I speculate a little...

I wouldn't equate the two, although I'm mostly unfamiliar with Nevermore. They struck me as perfectly competent thrashy stuff that bored me so quick I closed Winamp during the second track. :)

The only group that sounds like Fear Factory is Meshuggah, and I hate to say it but Meshuggah is much better. They've actually grown well beyond their Fear Factory-with-more-skill days though, but the early stuff you could tell they listened to Fear Factory a lot.

Can't say I have. The name sounds familiar though. Wait, I think someone told me BUY OR DIE, but I didn't, and here I am, so it goes.

I've heard Politics of Ecstasy and seen Nevermore live twice. FF and Nevermore are really nothing alike. FF of course has the industrial type futuristic machine sound, while NM is power thrash or something. FF's vocalist is also a lot more guttural at times, and his clean voice isn't near as power metalish as Warrel.

FF just gets a bad wrap because people like to concentrate on their worst album, Digimortal (it's not that bad), and ignore their two best, Obsolete, and the utter unfuckablewith classic Demanufacture. Neither Meshuggah or Nevermore have released something near as important as Demanufacture.

FF>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Meshuggah>Nevermore

EDIT: Hell, even Terrorizer recognizes FF's importance, citing 3 of their albums as some of the most important albums of the 90's. Meshuggah got 1, Nevermore got zero.

And on the Terrorizer reader's poll for the best 90's albums, Demanufacture got #4, only behind Emperor's Nightside, Metallica's self-titled, and Emperor's Anthems.

I don't understand why Fear Factory is privy to so much shit talk, never have. In their heyday they were BAD. FUCKING. ASS. with the great double bass work, very cool clean/harsh vocals, and awesome riffwork (Dino has one of the fastest right hands I've ever heard). The only boring aspect was the bass, but that dude is playing guitar for FF now so he's getting his comeupance I suppose. :dopey:

I'd say it's a coin toss between Demanufacture and Obsolete as their best, my mood depends which I prefer (thankfully they are very different albums).

Then:
Fear Factory > Meshuggah

Now:
Meshuggah > Fear Factory

I'm kinda wondering that, too. I think people automatically lump them in with crap bands since FF was on Roadrunner before they went to Nickelback and Slipknot. Or maybe since the had one misstep with Digimortal, people assume the worst. Maybe some of the anti-FF people can tell us.

I love Obsolete, and Demanufacture is essential to any self-respecting metal listener.

Archetype and Digimortal are perfectly okay. Nothing special, nothing bad. Digimortal had about 3 real stinkers though, like Backadafuckup. :ill:
