No, it was because they wanted a more mechanical/robotic feel to the album, from what I've heard.
 
I heard it was because the simple single e riffs were so offbeat he could not do snare hits at the right time!
 
Um.. there are only 4 people in the band, and the whole band is basically a rhythm section.

But yeah, drums were programmed with Drumkit from Hell, which is a drum machine made by Thordendal and Haake, and the drumkit is sampled from Haake's set. Given that they even made the software involved in making the drum parts, it doesn't matter to me. Also, it wasn't just time restraints - it was a very collaborative album, so they wanted to make it so that any of the members could make drum or guitar parts for the song. Even Jens played some guitar on it.
