I was pretty let down with the new AoP...

I thought it was really good. The buildups are more drawn out than on Mammal, but the spaces in between the thick, chunky black metal torrent catered to my taste for noise and rhythm.

Listening to the new Anciients record. Gotta say, I was expecting more from a band with such an awesome album cover that captured everyone's curiosity in the Albums Currently Kicking your Ass thread.

It's really just a whole bunch of Deliverance era Opeth references with Crack the Skye vocals and an occasional High on Fire riff. Not impressed. There's a really high bar for progressive metal lately, especially since Djent invited a whole new crowd into the foray.

Some other band called Ghost kicked up a fuss so they had to change it for "legal reason" (thats all they are saying). I think they are trying to fight it though as they really hate having to use B.C.

Let the hate begin: Watain have a new album coming out this year, slated for an August release date.

Watain has announced the title and release date of their upcoming album: “After 120 nights of iron will and ardent magic, the fifth full length album of WATAIN is now complete. With broken bones and burning hearts we have ploughed our way through deepest winter into a new wilderness, to which we will open the gates at summer’s end.”

‘The Wild Hunt’ will be released on August 19th in Europe and August 20th in USA. Beware the rising star of dawn…

The album was mixed again at the Necromorbus Studio in Alvik, Sweden by Tore Stjerna. No further comments. More details will be unveiled soon.

looking forward to the new watain. and Uncle Acid. Love the new sabbath single but still worried about the album being mediocre. Baroque, you're right about the Essence.. sounds like a not as good Kreator. The new Megadeth is lame, Suicidal sounds exactly like Suicidal should. Did you hear about the Overkill / Kreator tour? with Warbringer opening!
