I normally head to bed with my most recent haul, but lately I've found that shit like Warning and Burzum puts me off nicely. What bands do you guys think assist sleep the best (and don't name bands that bore you to sleep)

Arckanum, Burzum, Sunn O))) (not boring imo, esp. first few discs), Die Toten Kehren Wieder Mit Dem Wind, Njiqahdda...basically any drifting ambient/depressive BM and doom stuff.

I don't sleep to metal usually, more often it is shoegaze or dark ambient but for metal I think most things work that has atleast alittle atmosphere so I've slept to everything from Fall of the Idols, to Strid, to Entombed, etc. Agalloch ranks high ofcourse too.

Ive found I can fall asleep to just about anything, but if there is a song on the cd that is followed by a good bit of silence and then something loud it will wake me up. Thats when I usually get pissed and take the earphones off.

That happened to me before! Right after I bought Sleep - Dopesmoker, I was obsessed with it and had it playing as I fell asleep. Well, anyone who has it knows that there is a second (bonus) track after the actual 70-whatever minute song. Yeah, that...scared the shit out of me. Woke up pretty pissed.

Listening to music when I go to sleep is to much stimuli for my brain. I need to relax and not think about anything.

Anyways, if I were to listen to metal when I got to sleep it would have to be something that is not catchy, and won't stick in your head. So pretty much that boils it down to, black metal.

I don't listen to metal or any music at all when going to sleep but if I did I'd chuck on some Neurosis or Isis.

The only shoegaze I know is Sonic Youth (?) and My Bloody Valentine
