it says he uses esps with dimarzio tone zone and.. some other pickup...


ive downloaded some short clips of him playing various tracks and he appears to be using ESPs with EMG active pickups....? anyone know what pickups he uses because the sound is remotly like on his tracks so i can only assume he uses emg's lol

It's made by Dizmarzio, same as the tonezone. Check it out on the website.

Last time I listened to some live recordings I finally got the idea of using a very fat and a relatively bright pickup in the same guitar.

As far as I understand MJR's idea is to occupy certain bands when doing rythm and the same ones when playing lead to keep the band moovin'.
Neat trick.

More info on the X2N - This pickup is as hot as passives get (at least I don't know of something hotter). And often blamed for only being hot. I thing Chuck of Death used it too.
