Minimising Pick Attack During Solos & Leads

I've gotta gree with james on this one. I'm currently working on the guitars for our ep now, and one of the guitarplayers in my band has a really weak string attack. We keep busting his balls for it, and in the end I ended up playing his parts after he went home.
He came in the next day and and said: "See you A**holes? I've got a lot of pick attack!"

You're gonna be in trouble next time, he'll never practice his pick attack now that it's perfect on the recording.

Wasn't it Frank Zappa who actually had a mic installed between his pickups so he could amplify the picking sounds he made and use them more percussively in some of his songs?

A distressor in "Fairchild mode" will work wonders on pick attack. That being said, if you want more, it can do wonders for that, too
