I've recently started recording a new, emerging solo band, The Omega Experiment.

Here's a (Maybe) usable mix for the song:

NOTE: There are 80+ F@ckin tracks on this song... Well there will be once vocals are added in, which take up about 20 tracks total.. So right now I'm working with 60!

Let me know what ya think!

really epic song!

great keys sound, could you please tell me how many keys tracks are?

Sounds awesome. Really like the Devin vibe going on! :kickass: I'm actually going to be working with similar stuff pretty soon. I don't think it will be up to 80 tracks though... :goggly:

Love it. The only thing I would change is to get a little more body or low end on the snare. Also, I think the hihat is a little bit too harsh for my liking. Another things, the keyboard that trails out at the end is panned pretty hard to the left and was a little irritating. I would automate the panning to the center when it is mainly the only thing playing for those few seconds.

P.S. What did you use to get the guitar tone?

Thanks everybody! It's been a challenge, thus far--that's for damn sure.

They keyboardist used a Korg triton, for all key tracks, simply plugged straight into the board.

Snare is DEFINITELY something I had on my list to work on also.. Alone, the snare is awesome and has a ton of low mids, but I need to fix it up a bit for the mix, since there are soooo many tracks.

Guitars mainly used a 5150 (Go figure) and a series of doubled tracks, being pushed through different vst programs.

What do you mean at the end, the keyboard is panned in an irritable way??

I meant that at the end. the keyboards were a little irritating in headphones and on my studio monitors because they were pretty much the only thing you hear for the last second or two and were way to one side. I think it would be much more pleasing to the ear to have it centered out at the end.

Oooh yeah!

Actually, that's not even supposed to lag at the end there. There's actually a whole other section to this song.. I just figured that I'd mix the first 3 quarters to get the vibe of it.. Actually it sits really nice in the mix, when I solo out all of the keyboards.

I initially read "Mixing 80's tracks!" and read there were 80 tracks as well and thought "yea, that seems about right.."
Hahaa
On the mix i agree with the others about the snare, it needs some more body and the bass is set very well, you can hear it but its not overpowering at all.. truly glues it together..
Epic Riffzx, music, and SOLID MIX!
great work...

It sounds pretty great, and it's one of the few songs I really like that has been posted on the forum. Very Devin Townsend-y indeed, great job man. The thing that threw me off a little bit though was the hihat, it sounds a little trashy/fake.
