All black metal is pretty moody. I really like Leviathan's "Tentacles of Whorror", Winter of Apokalypse, Xasthur's ok. I tried Velvet Cocoon but couldn't stick with it at all. I want some black metal that's just extra dark, atmospheric, not crazy in your face constantly. I've heard good things about Shining. Good? Any others?

Strid
Forgotten Woods
Burzum
Mütiilation
Hades
Drudkh

Oh well you have probably heard most of them already. They aren't very obscure, but classics wins most of the time anyway so... :>

I ended up with Horna, Shining, Behexen, and I randomly chose Necronoclast from the record store down the road. Loved them all. But honestly Horna and Behexen I enjoyed the most. Got I Shalt Become today. Brilliant stuff.

However now I'm wanting some stuff like Behexen. I'm fixed on this album right now. I'm still gonna give all the other stuff recommended here a try too.

I ordered Krohm last night. Moribund's website is the only thing I can find that has mp3's my computer will play. My search will be much better once I get a new computer. But I heard a couple Krohm songs and really enjoyed them. Forteresse looks interesting. I don't know of many Canadian black metal bands.

Which Krohm album did you wind up getting?

I definitely will if this one is that good. I'm discovering I really enjoy the ambient black metal. Sometimes it's a bit much on the ambient but overall a great style.

I'm glad I'm wrong, though if I'm not mistaken none of this stuff is "new", just new albums from older bands. Took some fuckin work though. And really ambient black metal is the only thing Im excited about. And Horna and Behexen. They're pretty freakin sweet.
