Yeah man. Everybody, including the non-metallers, say Metallica this and that but the bottom line is that they are sell outs. Sure, they got thrash metal to a new level along with Slayer but they get all the credit for contributing to thrash and metal in general but bands like Kreator are barely even heard of.

Actually I have always wondered why Metal Church (Howe era) never took off like Metallica Anthrax etc. They were a great band.

Carnivore. Awesome New York thrash that no one's ever heard of. They've come out with only two albums, but awesome ones at that. This was also Type O Negative vocalist Peter Steele's first band. GREAT THRASH!!!

One of the most over-rated thrash bands ever. Well..maybe not the band itself, but D.D. Verni is quite overrated.

I'd say Paradise Lost

D.D. Overrated?! That's insane man. The guy is about as overrated as a Cliff Burton. A bass player that's really overrated?! Jason Newsted!
Underrated bands:
Flatsam & Jetsam(wish they would have broken like Megadeth or Metallicash)
Overkill (is an underrated band, see above)
Exodus(with Souza was/is highly underrated)
