I'm trying to find some of Ingmar Bergman's films, particularly "The Seventh Seal", "The Passion of Anna" and "The Hour of the Wolf". Since I'm away from any blockbuster videos and such, does anyone know if these are widely available in rental places (I'm expecting not), or, does anyone know where I can aquire DVDs without having to get RAPED IN THE ASS for them?

Have you tried your public library? My local has a great DVD selection (every single Criterion Collection release, foreign or otherwise) and of course, since it's a library, the "rental" is free.

Of course, they won't stock your lowbrow popcorn movies, just old and modern day classics.

I can't wait to see Brokeback Mountain!

saw 1.5 out of 2.0 hours of Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance ... was ok, but I passed out ... interesting twist of main characters so to speak at the hour mark ...

for some reason though I am not really interested in finishing the flick

can you convince me otherwise?

Booger Nights

pretty cool. sorta obvious with the HERE COMES THE DEPRESSING PART, CAN'T YOU HEAR THE DARK MUSIC?!? bit, but still cool anyhow.

watched 2046

uhh.. interesting, didn't really know what to expect from this film, but I heard it was pretty, and this was true.

apparantly is a sequel to some movie I haven't seen.

It just overall felt kinda pointless to me, though I did enjoy watching it.

Yeah, it's the sequel to In The Mood For Love, which I got for christmas but have yet to watch. It's supposed to be amazing tho :)

I found 2046 dull as shit. So slow moving and, like you say, pointless :erk: It was pretty tho.

ah, thanks, yeah I had a feeling if anyone knew of this film, you would

the slow moving aspect didn't even bother me, I actually enjoyed watching it for the visual style, but I seriously did not care at all for the author dude, and there was nothing in the movie to actually make you think otherwise. It's like they said "hey feel bad for this guy" and at the end "well no, he's too cool to care about any of that shit."

but as I said, I did enjoy watching it...... but I have no interest in any deeper qualities that may be exhumed from subsequent watchings..

I'll try out that prior film though, I have a slight interest in seeing it, even if just for the camera work.

SYMPATHY FOR MR. VENGEANCE ... in the end it turned out to be fantastic.

I really enjoy Park's work now. By far the best director since early Woo. And Korean actors definetelly seem to have more personality then Japanese.

Some great cinematography and unforgetable scenes in this one. The story line was rather unconvenetional too.

on the other hand i took 2046 off of mine based on your review and Russell's :loco:

just watched THE CROUPIER also (on a movie marathon nursing sore muscles from last nights show) ... someone recommended this here ... great flick ... although I got a little lost at the end a bit ... something did not makes sense.

anyone care to fill me in?!?!?!?!

i recommended it! :kickass:

and i haven't seen it for many years so i can't help you out any because i forgot what happens at the end. :loco:

Scarlett Johansson is fat. I was called gay for speaking this truth during "Lost in Translation".

I can't help it she has a "tummy" (i.e. gut) in that flick.

Not saying I wouldn't bone her, but she's a little on the hefty side.
