Mr. V and drug use?

A little smokey smoke never hurt anyone. Whatever he does, or does not do, keep it up Mr. V! You kick serious amounts of ass!

I havent been back to this forum in some time now, but the opening comment in this thread is the most shocking post I've ever read in here. Why hasnt someone banned this guy already? Directly insulting the artist? Cmon!

I think it's you who missed the point of what he said. No need to be rude to him either way.

I believe he basically meant "so what if he uses drugs, his music is good".

I feel exactly the same about Varg Vikernes, Hellhammer, Nokturnal Mortum, Dissection, etc. The guys are racist sons of bitches, but like I care, their music rocks.

If you want to reach a world where drug use and artistice creation are not linked in any way... you might end up waiting for a VERY long time.

An artistic mind is a mind in need of expression, not justification.

You might want to rewrite some definitions in your personal dictionary. The way you made the openning post of this topic, you were most clearly putting in question everything that Mr. Andreas Hedlund has done yet : "if you used drugs while creating all this, then you suck". That is basically how it came out. And in that way, I agree with The Huster. Also, the  didn't change the fact that you were being rude to yet another person, keep up the good work.

Oh and, are you sure you really never smoke anything? That green hat on your pic look doubtfully "pothead" like.

EDIT : No need to serve me the "you're a smart ass" kind of lecture, I heard pretty much every version of it, the latest and most original one having been given to me by Mantis on this very forum (no grudge held Mantis, it was fun to mutually unleash some fury). Thanks in advance.

I used to smoke all the time, but then i changed my ways a few years ago and decided life is better doing things sober. Just because I wear a hat doesn't mean I'm a pothead...thats a little shallow dont you think?.

You sure have a lot to say about nothing mr. conway.

Strange that you answer only to the part of my post you claim is shallow (which part was in fact pure derision) (that means not serious)

Rock on.

People hardly get banned from UM, only if they're complete idiots/jerks to artists. Personally I see this thread as a reasonable question.

An artist's substance use wouldn't make me dislike them, however racist views might do this.

I think it's ridiculous to hold moderate alcohol use against anyone, though I wouldn't exactly be enthusiastic to be around someone who uses heroin every day.

This is where you find the metalheads being split into two groups. Those who care and those who don't.

I don't care a bit that Hellhammer is an affirmed white-supremacist, or that Varg Vikernes is a psychotic guy that went as far as murdering someone. I like their music. That's all there is to it for me.

Yeah, sure, if the actual guy behind the music is as interresting a person as Mr V or Hansi Kürsch or Steve DiGiorgio can be, that's all the better.

But my point is (and here, you're totally free to disagree) good music played by a heroin addict white-suppremacist satanist one-legged butt faced guy is still good music.

in whose concert youd be killed if youre not aryan because of the behavior he encourages.i guess i dont mind it if theyre just like "studio white supremacists" lol

although its kind of funny, hellhammer doesnt look very white at all. More like an arab. or like X-Pac

Well quite obviously, I wouldn't recommend that a black metalhead tried to shake hands and get an autograph from Hellhammer......

I'd still go and show my gratitude and respect for all his creative and talented drumming he has brought to us over the years. But if he would disrespect me or my race in any way I would break that fool in half. Definately not intimidated by any racist fuck...no matter who they may be.

Same for me. The problem is how YOU consider what you listening to and how THE AUTHOR(S) consider it, what he mean with his music and lyrics (it's hard to write in english what I'm thinking... and in italian too! :erk:)

I usually draw the line at whether or not the art is based around something I'm actually opposed to- I like Hellhammer's drumming, I don't like Skrewdriver's lyrics. If the artist is using it as a platform to spread their specialized kind of hatred, I get turned off, partly because I disagree with the ideology they're trying to spread, and partly because they're using their music as a tool to promote something else, like a marketing technique.
