Music Gear Thread

Wow I've never heard of mixing power tubes. No idea if that's possible/good/terrible/whatever.

I bought a really fancy 4x12 cab because I could really use more speakers to annoy everyone.

Yes people re-bias the 6505 and use 2 KT88s and 6L6s all the time! The 6260 actually does everything for me, so I just put them tubes in and go, pretty awesome...

Anyone which tubes would mix better with the E34L's? To me they are very bright sounding, with a high-mid tightness that the 6L6's didn't have, which were also very bland sounding.

From what I've read the difference between 6550's and KT88's is the 6550's are less powerful and less thick sounding, but that KT88 thickness can only be a good thing, and since they have more power, they should be more headroom which would = tightness right?

Maybe we should rename this thread The 6L6 Club. Thankfully I only had to buy 6 recently, the other 12 are still good.

Huh, interesting. First time I've heard of doing this, but I say Live The Dream!

I haven't done much tube rolling so can't really comment on type.

caring about tube brands and types is pretty nerdy though

just play some rock music or whatever

For starters, half of the stock tubes broke in the amp within 2 days of getting it, the first one I guess was never working properly as it blew a fuse instantly as I turned the amp on, the second one died when I was trying to see how the amp sounded when turned up higher.

Now with E34L's the tone is really tight on the lows but the highs and overall sound could use a bit more smoothness.

So there's that then. Pretty ridiculous. I would connect them all at once but even the "small" rig is pretty deafening.

jeez, man

so i've had this guitar for a week or two and GOD DAMN what a great fucking instrument

right now i'm changing the strings to my usual 11-49 set and tuning it down a whole step and the bridge and the locking tuners are just a DREAM to work with

get this: when i bought this guitar, and it arrived from germany in a big ol' box, it was actually 100% perfectly in tune. yes, i have not tuned it once since it came out of the box

intonation is so fucking easy to set, too

every other guitar feels like absolute stone age after experiencing evertune

just

evertune or gtfo

Standard tuning is the best. Real men can transpose. :loco:

I'll do drop-D and 1/2-step down, but that's pretty rare.

For someone else's music I'll do whatever. No big deal.

Absolutely. I was being facetious. Perhaps fetishistic even.

I'm usually in standard unless a band requires otherwise.

Current band requires E, Eb, drop-D, and B. Works for me.
