Okay, so this thread idea came to me in a random fit of curiosity about Autechre videos. I found some on Youtube, and they were just as weird as I suspected they would be. Reading the videos' commentary on Youtube is often as puzzling as the videos themselves, too.

The Residents also come to mind, and they probably outdo Autechre in many respects:


If anyone else knows of any weird music videos that have been made by electronic musicians, experiemental musicians, or whoever, just post them here. I'd like to see a nice big repository of "bizarre shit" accumulate in this thread, with accompanying discussions in a similar vein.

Cool stuff guys. Those ohgr videos are pretty weird indeed. I like things with a kind of 'storyline' a lot, though, like the Squarepusher one. I'll have to check out more Chris Cunningham vids.

Oh, and this thread probably shouldn't do without The Prodigy's "Breathe", even if it was all over MTV when it came out. It has a nice atmosphere of insanity and decrepitude.

Nice music! My favorite was probably the Monomoy - really fascinating sound and footage. Makes me think the person behind the camera is either having a bad trip or a near-death experience, haha. The Pan Sonic video was also interesting in a kind of 'bizarre dystopian society' way. The Stars of the Lid had nice bleed-through and color distortion - made the experience seem very 'heavenly'. The SoL, Dead Texan and Hammock music was all very pretty too. Thanks for the post!

The MGMT isn't so much full-blown weird as it is "good fun in a slightly trippy context". I actually just discovered the band while I was searching for Holy Fuck vids, so I was quite fucking impressed to find such an interesting band on a chance event like that. Definitely need to check out more of them.
