Do you have music online? :)
A female growler? Nice. It's something you see more these times. It's nice. I played in a metalband before and we also had a female growler. She was really good and had a deeper growl then most man! :D

I won't stop reading this thread Lupskalla. ;) Topic is on! :)
I play mainly acoustic guitar. Maybe I should pick up my electric guitar again and start riffing.
I also sing, play bass, bouzouki, flute and some little folk intruments. I also want to play drums and my plan is to do the drums on the next Faelwa by myself.

Yes yes yes :p growling is great but I also want to sing clean vocals, in fact, in my band I supposed to sing clean vocals but then I started to compose music in the vein of Darkthrone & I realize that growls were the best option, I'm so into true Norwegian black metal :) I'm still in process of recording but you can listen to my old stuff (that was black/death) on Solens Krona's Myspace :Spin:

You definitely should start creating riffs & play drums, drums are awesome, I just love them :) And well, as Elvina said, her passion is the visual stuff, I realize that music is my biggest passion & it seems to be yours too (I have checked your myspace, hihi)... I used to play theater but creating music is one of the best feelings in the entire world!!!

I also discovered that my creativity lies in the visual field instead of the audio, so i ended up doing just that :)

What mediums are you the most comfortable in?
I also like to do visual arts, and I like to do watercolors the most. I only started a year or two ago, but I adore painting!

Cool thread!! Well, I play classical guitar, electric guitar, sing (I do growls and I can do some decent clean vocals, but I'm still working on them :p), some bass and drums (not much), and the other day I found a Tin whistle, and I'm learning!! :p

Here's some of my stuff, but I haven't recorded anything in almost a year now, I was planning to record something these days, Time will tell... I've been kinda busy :p

@Windvang -> I'll comment on the other thread ;D

PS: Sorry for the shitty quality of the recordings lol

I love that a lot of us are also involved in our own creative pursuits, as well as enjoying Mr. V's!

Indeed!! That's really awesome, also because, in one way or another, we all have been influenced by Mr. V's awesome work!!

You're totally right with my passion for music! :)
I have a metalheart and I do feel the need to write riffs and create metalmusic. I wish I had more time to compose. But these times I am also busy with other things. For me it's more pleasing to pick up an acoustic guitar then an electric guitar. When I plug in a elec guitar I hear the mess in the sounds because I don't have a good 'earth connection' (is that the right word? :p )

I'll check out your music when I am at home.

anything digital! :p My specialty is 3D, but i'd also do anything in Photoshop. I also love making videos and short movies but right now i cannot do much of that because of this old computer i'm on...

i haven't done traditional drawing for years, i used to do portraits in pastels... oh wait, i did a Týr cartoon earlier this year, the sketch was pencil on paper, then scanned in and the rest was done in PS. :)

Oh, that is hysterical! I love it!

Indeed!! Awesome drawing, you are really good! Do you have by any chance a deviantart page or something like that to see some more of your drawings?

My turn to add art. My stuff so far is in watercolor, and it tends to run more on the moody and bizarre side.

Here's one piece. I modelled this after a picture I saw of Skellefteå:

To get some idea of size, here's that same piece propped up against my computer (where yes - I was watching the horror that is Twilight):

Someday I'll work with larger paper! (I also don't have a scanner either, but that will come with time! Instead, I took the pics with my camera.)

AHAHAH we all play, we all draw....
i draw too sometimes. i like to do copies of celtic stuff to hang on my walls.
i usually paint on wood :)

nice painting qu appelle!

i've never understood how to use properly watercolours

Thanks!

And yeah - you don't use watercolors, watercolors use you. Once you put that paint down on the paper, it's going to do whatever the hell it feels like, and there's no turning back, because you can't really erase. Nor can you really cover up. It's a grand study in patience and tolerance. And imperfection. So, my 'exact' pictures aren't all that exact really. But that's part of the fun!

I had a good teacher who emphasized trying to work with the paint, and not against (e.g. don't try to use it like oils or acrylics), and you'd get much better results.

And then sometimes I do weird stuff like wet an entire page and apply paint, and it turns into this:

(This is part of my 'Abstract Tryptich', otherwise known as 'I have three pieces left of this crap paper I bought on sale because I didn't know any better, and I don't want them to go to waste, so I'm going to use them up quickly with weird experimental shit so I can get some better paper come next paycheck')

good to know that
they are really too much unpredictable and uncontrollable for my taste/ability, i like watercolours, it's just that i'm not able to use them

anyway nice experiment! :loco:

now my turn to show something.
it's a design copied and arranged about celtic peacocks which i've found on the web. i changed colours and some knotworks.
it's one of my favourite (maybe 'cause i took a lot of time to finish it), i like the golden colour i've put on it because it changes a lot with light and believe me it' is very beautiful to paint on wood 'cause you can see its veins also after putting the colour.....
i haven't put yet the lucid finish to protect it, so the colours in some points look a little bit opaque (it depends a lot from the angle of the flash of the camera). the painting is really big, about 1.20 m for 60 centimeters

That is really cool! Nice work. I'm the bassist in HEDDA and my wife's passion is graphic art. She did all the artwork on our website and our disc, in fact my avatar is one of her pieces. Our's is a concept album involving angels; we wanted a contemporary and sexy look for our characters. Take a look and see what you think of her stuff. There is different art on each page of the site. http://heddatheband.com/

thank you guys! :D it was actually my 3 months of fame (let me brag some more! :saint::oops:) when i posted this toon on the official Týr forum, and everybody including the band liked it so much, they had put it in the header of the forum pages (just like Vintersorg logo here). It's been hanging there for 3 months i believe, until the band had proper new pictures taken. In fact, my toon inspired them to take pictures exactly in the same style! (you can see it in their current forum picture). That's what Heri told me when i met him after the show in april. I wouldn't have believed it myself if it wasn't Heri himself telling me that! :D i was totally freaked! o_O:worship:

i do have a DA page but it's mostly for my 3D Second Life work, which is not actually art. There are a few other digital things there, but no traditional drawings. I cannot even scan them because they're on A3 paper which doesn't fit in a normal scanner. I need to take some time to make pictures of them, but haven't really gotten around to do that.

hmm i believe i tried them only when i was a kid and i remember it exactly as you described  It must be quite difficult, but you're doing a good job! ;) i would love to learn that too, but i don't have time nor patience :D pastels are really ideal for me, they give beautiful shading that i love so much and are simple to use! but you do get your hands very dirty :D

ah she uses 3D renders right? it's nice, but not really my kind of art :)

Hmm, I'm not really a musician, but I do tend to sing now and then (I really wouldn't count playing mouth-harp as being a musician :p)

I sing in a folkmetal band called Skald (which may not be so much "folk" anymore). We're hopefully going to release our debut album sometime in 2010.

New webpage will be up at www.skald.se ASAP!

I also occasionally scream my lungs out in the blackmetal project Nidrike.

Plus that I've done some guest vocals+lyrics for the blackmetal band Vanmakt
