Musicians of this forum

thank you guys! :D it was actually my 3 months of fame (let me brag some more! :saint::oops:) when i posted this toon on the official Týr forum, and everybody including the band liked it so much, they had put it in the header of the forum pages (just like Vintersorg logo here). It's been hanging there for 3 months i believe, until the band had proper new pictures taken. In fact, my toon inspired them to take pictures exactly in the same style! (you can see it in their current forum picture). That's what Heri told me when i met him after the show in april. I wouldn't have believed it myself if it wasn't Heri himself telling me that! :D i was totally freaked! o_O:worship:

i do have a DA page but it's mostly for my 3D Second Life work, which is not actually art. There are a few other digital things there, but no traditional drawings. I cannot even scan them because they're on A3 paper which doesn't fit in a normal scanner. I need to take some time to make pictures of them, but haven't really gotten around to do that.

hmm i believe i tried them only when i was a kid and i remember it exactly as you described  It must be quite difficult, but you're doing a good job! ;) i would love to learn that too, but i don't have time nor patience :D pastels are really ideal for me, they give beautiful shading that i love so much and are simple to use! but you do get your hands very dirty :D

ah she uses 3D renders right? it's nice, but not really my kind of art :)
wow elvina! i didn't know about your experience with tyr!
you must have been very proud of your work!

thnx! :) aye, i've been pretty active as "Týr fangirl" earlier this year  and Heri is very nice, i believe he remembers all their fangirls/boys at least by face

about those pictures: i was thinking of getting a tattoo with authentic Urnes knotwork. Couldn't find any good clean sketches on the internet, so i've decided to make one myself. These 2 pictures are just outlining of the real thing: the big one comes from Urnes Stavkirke (the very one they used for Universal cover)

and the smaller one is the brooche.

What i did was outline with the Pen tool and bruhes in Photoshop (i use a wacom tablet instead of the mouse), and added the shading. I didn't use pencil and paper at all this time.

I like your viking motives a lot! i bet it took much time to make it?

i'm old fashioned, so i do everything on free hand
i'm not able to use programs for drawing, so i have to use those old goods called hands
yeah i took about a month to finish the peacocks, but basically i didn't spend more than an hour a day in doing this.
i usually find a design that i like, and copy it with pencil on wood of a bigger size, this is the most difficult part because for peacocks i started with a design of 15 per 5 cm and made it of 1.20 mt per 60 cm. then i colour it with acrilycs and put a protecting finish, that's all.
it's time consuming but really relaxing :)

some other experiments :)
yggdrasill (copied from delyth's tree of life, with some changes)

(the golden colour is very annoying on big portions because it doesn't come out uniform ...so i need to put a second hand of colour)

a random celtic border found on the web which i liked so much

Should we make a separate thread for us visual artists? Otherwise, the name is a bit misleading :)

If so, I could make it when I get to work. Or someone else can. But I don't think we should clutter up this thread more.

Wow awesome work!! You guys are great :O, I used to do some pixelart a couple of years ago, but now I just suck at it :rofl:D. About the new thread, not sure, could be, but since the thread came back to life it turned to a "Artists in this forum" thread I guess :p.

You know? That's a good point. I won't make a new thread then, and having all of us together showing off our handiworks in the same place is kind of neat!

Oh yeah - more art!

This summer, I faced a conundrum. I love to paint watercolors, but sometimes they're too static for me. I also used to write fiction, but I hated that it was *all text*, and no pictures. So, I hit upon the idea of creating a comic. And, after doing research, finding supplies, and getting the guts to actually *do* it, I've started out! I still have a lot to learn about the mechanics of drawing people, but there's a Life Art Drawing class I'm thinking of taking in the Spring. (After my SQL class. Oof.) So, here's some initial comics work. (The working title is "The Mika Kilpimaa Variety Hour", but I don't know if it's going to stick :) )

The ink is Deleter #2, and it's done with either a tiny brush or a pen nib.

The top half of my first page:

Bottom half, where our Intrepid Heros stand. Mika's the one on the left being inked in:

Just a page where I'm playing with different inks and pens/brushes. Ignore the dialogue; it's all garbage text. But hey! A guy with curly blond hair! (I'm happy with how the hair came out. And I'm thinking of changing the name.):

I have no NO idea if this is going to go ANYWHERE, but dang it's fun to sketch out and draw!

I used pencil in that drawing but I also can paint with watercolor & oils :)
Btw, your stuff is abstract & cool!

Yeah, I thought your picture looked like a drawing! I liked it!

And thanks! I'm just starting out, like I said before, and it's scary to put things out there for others to see! I would love to do an abstract-ish comic book or graphic novel.

Just felt like posting this, I guess. A couple of my vocal covers:

I'll try to get some of the original stuff by Mark Coroner and myself online. Until then, tell me what you think.

it's amazing how some talented people can turn things like a kettle, a plastic water can, thermos flask with water, beer cans into cool instruments!

I thought this would be the appropriate place to post this..

Normally I don't spend a lot of time self-promoting my music, but I thought I'd do so here. A couple years ago I recorded a demo called "Premonitions" which was full length (55 minutes) and basically a progressive death metal concept album. The recording isn't the best, but I am offering the tracks for free, high quality download (and donate if you want to) here: http://aethereal.bandcamp.com

The disc can be listened to on the website with lyrics. I suggest you make it past the first few songs if you think it starts too slow, because it starts out with lots of acoustic stuff.

I'm curious about opinions even if you don't like something.

"Ok guys... I've been trying to wonder how this guy records his drum sounds. I know they're electronic drums, but I'm not sure if he uses drum machines, softsynths or drum pads and if the rhythms are sequenced or actually performed live.

What do you think or know about this?

I've got software like Rebirth and Fruity Loops, but they're only usefu for techno rhythms and the like, or so I think, cuz I haven't been able to sequence anything even close to blastbeats or even plain metal...

I'd appreciate any input on this..."

Mr. V has answered this before while speaking about Solens Rötter. I believe he has a certain drum software.

I'm been playing violin for 17 years and guitar for 9.

I compose for my band Austaras and play live guitar in Waves of Amphitrite

The Austaras myspace will be up in a month or so because we are recording out debut full length in late March.
