my sexy new guitar

Great find, do love Gibsons.

Less weight for wimpy Emos and ageing rockers while having increased resonance (dynamics and harmonic content). Sounds like a win - win situation and a well-crafted, hand-selected chambered Les Paul will be indeed a good guitar, but what Gibson neglects is the fact, that people came to love the sound of the traditional solid-body design, they heard on countless records.

Agreed, as an owner of a quite extensive collection of Chambered, Swiss Cheesed and entirely solid Les Pauls, I gotta say at the ripe old age of 32 with a body barely holding itself together, the chambered Lesters are pretty steadily becoming my go to guitars for live work. Those and an Axcess, which by design is lighter anyways.

Also, just as an aside, a 2007 chambered Standard that I picked up while visiting a buddy in New York, is probably my favourite sounding and playing Les Paul that I have.

Apologies if this deviates too far from the thread's intent. Again, great find.

*Edited for a typo.

what you guys are forgetting that there's a reason for the chambering.
it's the fact that gibson used to use high quality but relatively light weight mahogany....the stuff they're using now is the cheapest junk and it's heavy as fuck, without the chambers the les would weigh way more than an old unchambered one.
the only reason for the chambers is that Gibson are using SHIT quality wood.
I'm not complaining about the chambers but about the reason that made chambering neccessary...which is the shit quality of the wood

Absolutely right.

My preference for chambered Les Pauls live is most definitely because my back is absolutely fucked.

I had the privilege to play a 1959 Les Paul recently, aside from the initial fear of accidentally causing some kinda damage, it was quite an experience.

sexy axe indeed!
but I can't play them V guitars comfortably while sitting.
"shut up, this axe has to be rocked while standing!"

Just seen, looks yummy!

Flying Vs are far better for fast metal playing than I think people realise. Something about them seems to facilitate thrash/speed style stuff a lot more than Les Pauls or SGs, but that's just me. Loving the locking tuners, EMGs and colour combinations as well. Can't wait to hear samples.
