My "somewhat" Chicago review

Ok, where to begin......well, first off I wasn't sure I was even gonna be around to go, but I was able to get back in town last night and catch the show, well, sort of.

The opening band was mediocre. The music was good, but the singer sucked ass. He wanted to be Phil Anselmo so fucking bad it was scary.

Anthrax played a movie before they took the stage showing shit with albums and the singer changes, there was a good yell from the crowd when they showed and talked about Bush. The movie was about twenty minutes long. The band came out and started their set after the movie. The whole trip about the "Among" lineup being back together lasted about 5 minutes. I'm sorry to say, but this show to me and the group I was with was HORRIBLE!!!!!! Danny reminds me of a metal version of C.C. Deville, posing for pictures making stupid faces and gestures, it got annoying. Joey sounded like shit!!!! The vocals on Lone Justice were killer, but the rest was blah. He absolutely killed Deathrider, worse I've ever heard. We left about 8 songs into the set, couldn't take it anymore. He has lost all he once had. The band sounded great, but Joey needs to go.......again. I was a HUGE fan back in the Joey days, so please don't think I'm just bashing to bash. I saw many shows with Joey that rocked, but this was crap. I'm sure many will post on here that it rocked, but IN MY OPINION as an Anthrax fan of old and new, it does not come close to anything they did back in the day, and it cannot even touch the shit with Bush. Hopefully this will only be a short lived reunion and the band will get back to kicking ass again with Bush and Rob.
 
Well, since Keanu Reeves was in the pit I guess I really should have stayed then. Damn. Myself and the people I was with all were in agreeance that Joey sounded like crap, so we left. I saw what I wanted, it sucked, we cruised. I'm not gonna sit and stay through something that sucks. I had high hopes that the show was gonna be good, to me it wasn't. The way I look at it, I didn't walk out on an Anthrax show, I didn't see John or Rob there, so it definitely wasn't an Anthrax show. Call me whatever ya want, but it still doesn't change my feelings that this show was crap. I gave it a fair chance, I gave the band the benefit of the doubt, and once again, IN MY OPINION, it blew.

Well there ya go, that's what makes the world go around. Like I said, I used to really dig the Joey shit, but to me he's lost it. I'm glad you enjoyed the show, I wish I would've.
 
The show tonight was absolutely great (although I will agree the opening band sucked). I didn't get into Anthrax until 1988 and this was my first time seeing the band with Spitz and Belladonna. I have to say it was a real treat. Danny is still an awesome guitarist and Belladonna really interacts with the crowd (I was on the left side of the stage and he came over by us several times). They play a dvd before the show starts that goes over the life of Anthrax, but it froze shortly after and they had to restart it (oops). As expected a lot of the old stuff that I've never seen done on stage with Bush was played including some surprises like In My World (some of you might remember that was the song they played when they were on Married With Children, and that clip is actually in the dvd they played). If anyone else noticed Brian Posehn was there (any of you familiar with Mr Show will recognize him - http://music.houstonpress.com/Issues/2005-04-14/music/music2.html), and so was Keanu Reeves. Both of them were standing next to me towards the end of the show, although Keanu was a bit of an ass cause he pushing me out of the way and stepping on the back of my friend's shoes (this was near the bar, not the pit where you're used to this). All I gotta say is if you're going to hang out with the rest of us normal people then don't act like you're so much more important than the people who were standing there before you decided to show up. If anybody goes to both Chicago shows I'd be curious to find out what differences there were in the set list.
 
Yeah, that was actually cool, I met Brian upstairs before Anthrax started. That dude cracks me up!!!!! You should've knocked Keanu on his ass!!! LOL.
 
Anthrax isn't rob and john.

Anthrax is Joey,Scott,Dan,Frank, And Charlie, and this is evident now more than ever. LOL check out the site, almost no mention of john or rob. LOL.

It took me a very long time to get into Sound Of White Noise. When I first heard Potters Field, My heart sank and was like WTF is this crap.

I heard so mant comments from attendees Joey kicked butt and had a much better act than JOhn! I almost question myself if you went to the same show...but who cares...I love em being with Dan and Joey again!

Though I must say Dan better kept his DEAN V's instead of that fugly PRS!

i'm the opposite . when i first heard s.o.w.n. my first thoughts were " who the fuck is this singer he rocks !!!!!!!

simply put , anthrax needed a better singer and they made the right choice in john bush . john has a voice that joey can only dream of having .

if joey had sung on s.o.w.n. it would have been a disaster and one that anthrax may never fully recovered from .

this is just my opinion , i like both singers . g.o.t.e. didnt work 4 me ( apart from deathrider which rules ) i just hope in the future that anthrax dont release an album of joey singing johns stuff . i'd like to think that anthrax are smarter than that :headbang: :headbang:
