Minneman has left the band on kind terms and he and Mohammed will be making a side project.

They have a sick new drummer and are recording the new album. This will be the first mostly collaborative writing process. Mohammed wrote 99% of the stuff on previous albums. He will still program preliminary drums for tracks.

Re: songwriting. Necrophagist has adequate songwriting, actually, the tech stuff just SEEMS all over the place but it is in very standard song form. Lyrically some of it is decent, though it's tough to relate to those kind of lyrics with that sort of music and vocals. He does need to work a lot on the vocal hooks though, but the guitar ones are great. It takes many listens to wrap your head around it and appreciate the song structure and movement, as with most death metal.
Not everything has to be a 3 to 4 minute Cannibal Corpse hooked song.

wow nobody even knows whats going on....they're not even in summer slaughter again this year. and marco was just a live drummer, and a new drummer is on. so they gotta record all his shit probably. and yeah muhammed writes practically everything, he does it in gp5 to. the new album will most likely be out this year, but it wouldnt be a stretch to say that it might take a while like from onset-epitaph. but that was only a shitload of time because he had to find all new members etc. etc.

The new Arsis sounds a lot like Necrophagist, only with blackened vocals and shorter, less Yngwie-y solos.

The new Arsis owns my soul. And so does Necrophagist.
