I don't have a bass and I can't sing. There is a song that I'm working on (it is still very rough with only the scratch rhythm guitar and drum tracks) that I'd like someone to play along to.

Anyone wanna sing or play some bass? This is more hard rock than metal...just to warn you. Eventually this song will have a real guitar amp and drums.
The file size is 27.3 megs.

The guitar is tuned 1 1/2 steps down and the low E is tuned 2 1/2 steps down.

Hey, I got a few questions about the bass:

Should it be played with fingers or pic?
Would you like it to be solid - going with the drums (Queensryche-style) - or more independent (Maiden-style)?
Do you want the sound to be warm or should it have some "steel"?

I don't promise anything... just interested.

I'm not really picky on how it is played. I definitely a really fat sound...whatever you think would suit the tune.

Couple other questions about the bass:

What format would you like the files in? I can give you raw wavs or ogg, etc. I use Reaper as my tracking DAW. If you use Protools LE, I could track in that and just send you the session. Whichever you prefer.

I'll give this a shot a little later this evening, it sounds like fun anyway.

Cheers,
Richard

I use Pro Tools on a Mac. So yea...sending the session would be awesome. If that is too much file then a 44.1/24 bit wav or aiff would be fine.

Actually, if you could throw up a drum stereo track, that would be great for me. I was able to track a couple ideas last night, nothing perfect yet, but they were good starts. This song is pretty fun to work with.

Will do. When I get home tonight I'll get that uploaded.

The stuff that I write is far from ground breaking or technically challenging, but I try to keep it fun to listen to. That is why most of my songs only have two or three riffs and only last about 2 minutes and 30 seconds. Keep it short so you can listen to it over and over without it getting old.

Between that and interesting tempo choices (155bpm???) this song is fun. It's always nice to have only a couple guitar lines to work with, it leaves more room for the bass to try something different.

My thoughts exactly, I do have an nice idea for a bass line for most of the song... only no bass to track it with...

but yeah... we'll see about those vocals... if you could provide all the waves for the session for us to mix as well... that would be rad... :)

Ok everybody...

I have no clue how to link to something that I upload to this forums FTP, but right now the raw files are uploading to a folder with my name on it. It might take a while to finish because it is moving slow.

So...check the Sneap FTP and you'll find a 135meg zip file with the raw tracks for this song. I'm warning you though...the guitars are just scratch tracks with a few pops because I was too lazy to crossfade my punches.

These should be at 24bit/44.1
