Need help testing DIs...

you might bash me for this, but isn't -18 exaggerated? i know the reason is that it equals 0dbu and iv'e read the gain staging article, but seriously i cannot see how pushing it up to -14 or -12 matters that much as long as you're always far from clipping.

i used to track at -18 and turn up monitor volume to compensate but i really can't hear the difference
