det som, the fucking problem with you is that you make the dumbest fucking comments. 'i dislike Jeff Loomis because of his face (seriously, I hate the way he looks). No I'm not trolling.'

I mean seriously, either you have the maturity of a fucking 12 year old or you're just a fucking lunatic. clean up your act, clean up your posts and you wouldn't have half the fucking problems you have. oh and the tough guy persona is so transparent. cut the shit.

Block me, then. No, I'll save you the trouble. In real life, I'm very polite, mature, well-spoken and kind. This is the internet. This is my escape to say whatever is on my mind. People might not like me for it, but that's their problem.

If anyone else doesn't like me, please by all means, block me.

Then block me. Easy as that.

I've had bad week. We lost the house, we can't afford an apartment, my grandmother has cancer, so I don't care, block me.

The only people I care about here are Steve, Cara, Derick, Derek, Will, Karen, Stormo, Enemy, Samantha, Kevin, Max, Russell, Dead Winter, Dan and Jayme. The rest of you can block me, save us both some trouble.

Awake is a masterpiece.

The first two songs on Six Degrees (Glass Prison and Blind Faith), are also flawless.

Don't like anything else except Change of Seasons.

AGREED about all those songs. Awake is by far my favorite Dream Theater album, and I think Blind Faith is one of their most under-appreciated songs.

They do their best work when they use their technical skill to accentuate the music, rather than use it to CARRY the music. I'd rather listen to a 13-minute song that's strongly written and only has short technical flourishes in it than a 13-minute prog epic with nonstop soloing and time signature changes, etc.

I think they've had a few brilliant moments since Six Degrees (title track on Ocavarium, especially) but it seems they're becoming more and more focused on flashiness, which is a shame since they really are good songwriters when they put their minds to it. Petrucci is very capable of balancing emotion with skill/speed - some of his best solos are his slowish ones, in my opinion...Lines in the Sand, for instance.

Sorry 'bout the shit you've been going through, John, but using the Internet as a venue for releasing your pent-up stress and anger is, like Max said, completely unhealthy. The fact that you NEED a release for those feelings in itself is already cause for concern. You say you're a friendly, polite person in real life, well that may be, but since you have all those negative feelings pent up inside you that you can only release on the Internet, that means you're playing a role, or upholding a façade in real life - you're hiding who you really are to present a certain face to the world, and those things you hide (all the negative stuff), has to be released some other way: on the Internet, towards people who have nothing to do with your problems. We all have need for a catharsis, but what you're doing is extreme and destructive. And don't go, "I don't care about shit on the 'Net", because you do, every post you make proves that. And that just makes you more and more unhealthy. Combined with the frustrations and anger you experience in your real life, it becomes a spiral: you try to vent your negative feelings here, but only end up feeling more miserable afterwards, causing more need to vent, leading to even worse mental state.

The solution is obviously finding out where those negative feelings come from, and confronting the causes of them and solving your problems, instead of using the internet as your release, with the help of a psychologist if you need one/can afford one. Cut the friendly, polite act and speak up when someone makes you feel bad. Stand up for yourself - the people who really care about you won't love you any less if you do.

edit: OK, that's enough srs bzns for now. Carry on.

I understand. And you are right. It's just that when you get raped at 8 years old, you become a drug addict and bi-polar. I won't post in this thread anymore. I love you guys...
