Due to a huge amount of people saying the new Alice In Chains album actually didn't suck, I decided to give it a listen. I have to say, they're right.

I haven't heard the new AIC album, but having enjoyed Jerry Cantrell's 2nd solo album (Degradation Trip) I am going to give the new AIC a chance. Layne was a unique talent that did a lot to set AIC apart from other rock bands of that time, but with Cantrell always having been the primary songwriter, I can see this new disc being very good despite Layne's absence. I'm just not expecting Dirt part 2.
It's ok. I'm not one that falls into the category that it's a really great album. I think it's ok, much better than the first single they released. There are moments where the new guy does sound like Layne a bit, but he doesn't do a great job of convincing me, every now and then he will, but he's still no Layne. It seems like he's got one characteristic of Layne's voice down and he runs with that all the time, but overall he's not quite Layne.
