New Amp Sim: LE456

I do not want to be ungrateful but the midrange of this amp sim seems to be very hard to work it.

hmm I didn't find that at all.

Between the contour knob and focus switches I could pretty much dial in the mids I wanted

In fact this thing kills every other sim I have tried for versatility

I haven't had trouble dialing in classic or modern tones between crunch and lead channels.

I'm not jumping you for saying what you did, just a little curious on what you mean

peace :kickass:

Sounds awesome.

I have a question: When rendering, does the plug automatically switch to high-quality mode like Crow's 8505, or do you need to manually set it to high-quality and then render?

It's actually the Powerball and LE456 switching between each other all the time :)

Rough times:

0:03 - 0:09 = Powerball
0:09 - 0:16 = LE456
0:16 - 0:22 = Powerball
0:22 - 0:29 = LE456

The main differences I hear are:

1) The LE456 has slightly shorter decay time
2) The Powerball has a bit more mids
3) The LE456 has a bit more treble than the real Powerball

These are of course when comparing to using the exact same settings on both. I'm sure with just a little bit of tweaking they'll sound identical. You can especially hear the decay difference on the first high note of the riff. Both use the same (quad) DI tracks, so it's not a difference in playing.

Oh and the settings (0 - 10):

Lo Lead
Gain 3,5
Bass 3
Mid-Focused 10
Treble 6,5 (real), 4,5 (sim)
Bottom off
Presence & Depth Punch 5 (real), Contour 5 (sim)

Unbelievable equal! Can you share infos about boost, IR, post EQ... Awesome tone:rock:

Hey LePou - I'm having a problem with the LE456 in Reaper.

Sometimes if I'm using it, then save my project and re-open it later, nothing will play and it will act really glitchy until I remove the LE456 plugin from whatever track it's on. Any idea what's up?

I have heard some Engl clips and the ampsim it´s too similar ideed. Ok I found that what I dont like it´s the Engl tone, well at least in the clips I heard. But if the objective of this ampsim was to emulate the Engl sound, Lepou did it with great sucess. So what I am going to say after this can be much irrelevant for Engl lovers. I think the tones posted here are too scooped except for one or two. And I dont like how the mids work with the amp sim, it have a weird expression, sound always too scooped. For example I can work a better and faster tone with 8505 and without post processing. For me the LE456 seems hard to work without Solo C as a boost and without post processing. Ok with this I am not putting down lepou work, it´s just a matter of taste and a different opinion. But who likes Engl can forget my post.

Having the same issue with FL Studio 9, sometimes. And CPU is 99% loaded.

No, you have to do it manually.

I don't have this problem here. What version of Reaper do you use ? I'll see what I can do for you. Anyone has the same problem ?

I've got the same problem on reaper 3.12/

It only happened to me once during that testing session but what I did was to copy the amp sim from one track to another, which then caused the overload. So to test this, I guess you should make an instance of the plugin, then copy it back and forth to different tracks, delete, re-add, and so on. Might be caused by other things too, not sure... but copying definately caused it for me atleast.
