OK, I get the sarcasm there, but the truth is that seeing some of these bands live - especially in a setting like PPUSA and not some club - is enough to make fans out of people who might otherwise have passed the band by.

I am not at all denying the obvious fact that the PPUSA "stamp of approval" often is the only reason some folks will listen to a band.

Actually, the majority of the prog bands, not the ones that are actually progressive but the prog ones, tend to be the bands I have zero interest in.

I know what point you're going for. All I'm throwing out there is that based on personal experience there are bands I wouldn't otherwise follow (Pagan's Mind and Circus Maximus are prime examples) that I'm a fan of based on their PPUSA performances. Seeing them live, and seeing them there in that context makes a difference. If you ever make it down you may see that for yourself.

I am primarily talking about the people who praise bands from certain genres ONLY because they have played PP (Or better yet, start HATING a band they praised previously once they canceled.)

Oh, I definitely know what you're talking about. A good example are the guys who would never listen to anything with death growls suddenly becoming fans of Solution 45 and Mercenary, and exactly no other bands that sound like them.

Yep, exactly. Same goes for Forbidden, Isahn, Arcturus (til they canceled), etc, etc. It's like as if a genre is only justified as socially acceptable if its booked at PP. Wish I had the same power Glen does!!!!

I'll never order from them again because of my whole incident, as some of you know from my facebook posting. I did finally get my money refunded but AFTER i had to post to their forum on here about it and the next day they refunded me as well as give me a phone call and an email telling me that it was pretty much my fault. It's my fault that my emails to their contact form go to an inbox that isn't checked frequently and they get thousands a day so its impossible to see all of them. And also next time i should call them instead of email. Great customer service there, blame the customer for the company mistakes.
