New cool discussion?

I've used this one to get conversations started in other forums.

What you perceive as your life comes down to a few electrical impulses and chemical reactions that go on in your brain.

The universe only truly exists in the now. But since we assume that the universe changes in the now, there are past instances where the state of the universe (everything that existed) was different than the now, and so the universe travels through the now. The past states of the universe can be considered as the true past (or what actually happened). So the true past did exist at one point, when that instance was in the now, but in the now it only exists abstractly, as an idea. The future does not exist period, because it has not existed physically in the now yet, and it can be changed, so there cant be the idea of a true future.

The true past is concrete; it can not be changed. What humans see as the past is not, because our memory is not concrete. And since our whole life cannot happen in the now, what we consider to be our life really exists almost completely in the past. And what we see as our life is in our past, not the true past. Humans have no way of knowing the true past. Our lives come down to what we perceive as the past, our past, which is our memory of it. Our life as we see it only exists in our brain in the form of our memory. Consequently, we can't be sure about anything in our life. I could look away from my computer for a second, and not really know if I had written any of this. And even if I could see it, I would have no way of knowing if any of the words meant what I thought they meant.

oooohhh.....this is sort of heavy topic. I gave up after reading the first paragraph because I'm f***ing tired and exhausted today. I'll give it a try later.

But.....I bet Ziu will dig this.

Right, the FACTUAL history we never know... we only know what we perceived to be history, it'll always lack of something, only a part of the puzzle so to speak, or it is some altered history, re-written by someone later.

At least when you look at it through out eyes, there is a true history... but it doesn't exist for us, not in our minds, in our books or anywhere else... but in what might be the "universe's mind" (means: the facts are there, unalterable, but we're not able to perceive them)

It is just as you said :) (Just differently expressed ;) )

However, we can only make... educated guesses as to what refers to the future... sometimes it seems predictable, and we can neither deny nor proove wrong the possibility that the future might already "exist" somehow (at least I can't ;) ) The wide field that is science is still lying bare at many parts... who knows what we know about the mechanics of the universe in some years? Who foresaw what Einstein revealed? There are many unexplainable things to us... unexplainable because our mind cannot perceive them (Einstein just used examples, for example the rubber-membran to show up gravity).

And yes, there are many things we've never seen before, and therefor cannot explain them as well (not only the enigmas we've seen). The universe is huge, and we see only a past reflection of a dust particle, and even just understand it's surface.
Sometimes it just shows how little we are, when we drop the blinders of arrogance, right?

Been thinking lately, and I decided that the chances of this supposed reality being real are almost none. Given the infinite possibilities of existence, to believe that all there is to existence is what we can see, hear, and touch is foolish. My life could easily be a dream. If you can see and hear in the dreams we have in this "life" who says there couldn't be dreams where you could taste, touch, smell, and think too. You could just nothing more than figments of my imagination.

What if the true "god" was just an infinite supercomputer that we can't percieve? What if one day we could sign-on to the Internet of Eternal Wisdom? I think a lot of sacrifices would have to be made by the whole of humanity. The more time we waste killing each other and staying glued to the tv, the further away we get from true, flawless beauty. We could be gods, but we're trapped in this mortal strain, doomed to remain only one step above monkeys. Oh well, that's the tragedy of humanity.

We could be gods

In regards to if you were not reaching your full potental i think it would depend on the amount of "gods". For example, if I did happen to be the only "real" being and you were all just a dream that would mean that I'd have created a huge and incredibly detailed universe. To create every aspect of the earth and society is not wasting "my power". Now of course it would only be "a dream". But a dream is nothing but sights and sounds, and in this existence touch, taste, and smell too. If I dreamt something that I can see, hear, touch, taste, and smell, that's about as real as you get. Assuming of course that those are the only senses I have. When you dream I doubt you can do much more than hear and see, but when you "wake up" you can do more.

However I do not really believe I am a god.....yet. At least not until I can prove you don't exist....
