Check out the song 'You've Seen the Butcher'.

Many of you may know that I swing the the nuts of these guys. The stuff I've heard so far from their upcoming release Diamond Eyes is by far their best work since White Pony, and its about time as far as I'm concerned. I can already guess that many of you will hate the guitar tone, but this tone could be one of the best I've heard in a long time. It definitely has that scooped Marshall 1960 tone, but I'm going to guess that Stephan used the Celestion G12K-100, which from what I've heard sounds a lot like a beefed up T75. I absolutely love that hollow, old school sound that many of you hate! I dig the hell out the fact that you can hear the guitar amp noise in the background on the intro, too.

The compression on the drums may be one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard. TASTY. Can't wait for the album release.

Oh yeah, I also read on Wikipedia that they recorded this all to tape and did not use Pro Tools or any other DAW.

I shall refer to my representative Chevy Chase on coke for my approval

I've been listening to an advanced copy for like a month now... its really amazing. It hasn't left my car cd player.

My favorite track is the title/first track.

That doesn't seem like a big deal to me as their music isn't crazy technical, its mostly groove. I really want to record to tape one day... I haven't recorded to tape since I moved from my tascam 4 track to Cakewalk Pro Audio 9...

Yeah from what i have heard of this album so far.....can't wait for the release!

whole mix sounds great - anyone know who mixed it? seen things saying it was Nick Raskulinecz and other things saying it was Terry Date.

drums do sound pretty replaced to me, not that it matters as it sounds really fucking good.
It was Nick, Terry date did there other new (as of yet unreleased album) Eros.

I too am a Deftones nut-hugger

I agree about the guitar tone, it's fucking tits. I do think there's some samples at least on a couple songs. if you listen to a couple of the songs closely though you can hear the hi hat pump through the snare mic when it hits. other than that theres alot of transient designer happening.
