New DT MCD and album

Anyone knows what the format of the video will be ( quicktime, mpeg, divx (hey, one can hope ) etc ). Also will the video be available on the page when the mcd is out? ( well...oficially ) since because of distribution times and shipping internationally it could be harder for some of us to get it...

The Endless Feed (Chaos Seed Remix) has a hint of Rammstein.

Hey guess what? could pre-order the MCD on cdon now. But I didn't like the lost to apathy track, uh, yes, I did download it. I hope the album will be more aggressive, I'm thinking a new damage done. *hmm* It's too catchy. :err: But i'd buy the disc, for the sake of the cool cover. 55:- Skr!

Phew. that sounds reassuring, I read something like that yeah, so when I heard the track I thought, hey, that's not what I expected. Oh, hmm, I wonder how many of their old tracks they'll play on the tour. I hope many! :D

even though lta is far from the heaviest song on the new record, i'm surprised that it's being dismissid as soft or catchy. aside from the fact that it's certainly less catchy than all of damage done, i wonder why nobody noticed that the voice is being used in a very different way, one which is so much more aggressive and closer to the older stuff (the mind's i, over all) than anything heard on projector, haven or dd.

Actually, I concur with Rahv, in that I used those exact words ("He's going back to TMI-style growls, yippeee!!"... or something like that) last night to describe it to Nick. It is bliss for my ears - I am astounded by the sheer amount of variation in just this one song. Even aside from the fact that it sounded to me like Niklas tapped half of the song (ridiculous), the heavy, earthy bass, combined with the almost lofty guitar...

Alright, I'll stop now... :)

~kov. And yes, I was bad and did some downloading. But I'm still buying at least one copy of everything :)

maybe I should point out that my reply wasn't in any way meant as a comment on the song. I don't have much of an opinion about it, due to the fact that I haven't heard it yet.

Man, I can't wait to hear this. I'm most excited to hear Mikeal's voice on this album now that I've heard he's gone back to using his older growl style. If he sounds anything like he did on The Mind's I, I'll be thrilled.

The muzak just sounds a bit boring. I guess a band with as many albums as DT must have trouble keeping their sound and style fresh, and they have certainly evolved with more taste than the unholy Swedish trinity Arch Enemy, In Flames and Soilwork.
BUT
The music is still pretty boring. My first impression was "Damage Done with different keyboards". Derivation TNB sounds much better than Lost To Apathy, in fact.

I believe he was referring to DT_2004's assesment of it, not your quote of the albums as a whole.

probably, and not a big deal anyway, but since rahvin said "...surprised that it's being..." and "...wonder why nobody noticed..." after only one person mentioning it I felt I might just as well make it clear.

that's interesting, actually. I thought the vocals sounded harsher than usual in the recent final resistance live clip, but figured it might just be the sound or something. maybe not, then.

I totally thought that at first too--that "Lost to Apathy" is something off of Damage Done with different keyboards. But on the 20th listen or so, it's really growing on me, although it still reminds me of "Final Resistance."

I like the "The Endless Feed" mix the best off of the EP. That's pretty weird, but I also liked "Archetype."

Can't wait for the real thing thing to come out in November so I can go buy it.

Well, I have heard LTA only once from radio, and I have no clue about other tracks. But vocals really impressed me, I want to still say that I only heard it once so I can make uncorrect notifications but for me, vocals did sound more aggressive than in DD. And it didn't sound too much similar to DD stuff, I really liked that, and with those vocals I'm really waiting that I even get that ep first, and then character when it comes out.

finally listened to the ep...

the first thought when Mikael begins growling was "wow". He's using a more screechy growl, not so deep as in the last two albums, more reminiscent of The Mind's I, in fact. He does not scream like on "Of Chaos and Eternal Night" (oh gawd how I love that...) but I like this more than his deep growl... I also think they have done a great thing in taking back the thrashier rhythms, as they are fucking good when they play fast. "Lost to Apathy" did a good impression overall. "Derivation TNB" was a nice surprise... I like it... and I was surprised to actually enjoy even the Endless remix...
all in all I still won't buy the ep (come on, there will be 10 minutes of music, more or less, since I don't care for the live track), but I'm pretty excited for Character...

It's true that the vocals are reminiscent of the The Mind's I period, but it's just that I haven't listened to that album as much as the rest. I'd have prefered something like The Gallery vocals if I could've chosen, but luckily it doesn't go like that. ;) Still...it's better than the Damage Done vocals, which were very stable and good, but a bit uninspired.
Will have to listen more.

Today i´ve heard first time lost to apathy and hey this is really a surprise!!
a little bit of haven meets the minds I but both are great albums so I dont care if its a step backward or something like that
It has all DT trademarks and even a break with cool keyboardsounds like most DD-Tracks. perhaps the keys are a little bit put in the background
if the whole album is like this, well done and I think there will be a lot of surprises on character.
