New Enslaved Album

i get a strong pink floyd feel from Ground too. what a great track, especially the intro riff.

The floyd nods were very tasteful. Nachtmystium went pretty over board on them on their new one. They may as well have named a track "We really like Pink Floyd" the album is littered with odes. It's a decent album but as expected Vertebrae molested it.

Vertebrae is very different indeed, and in a GOOD way. Everything is a MASSIVE step up.

It seems every thing Enslaved ever do is flawless and Vertebrae is no exception. Ivar & Grutle continue to produce excellent material, and Enslaved just continue to be one of the most consistent bands in metal.

Dare I say it, but I think with Vertebrae, Enslaved are establishing themselves as the progressive metal kings. Vertebrae is even better than Ruun, and I didn't think they would pull that off.

Imo Ruun introduced a larger level of atmospherics (Ruun, Heir To The Cosmic Seed), and Vertebrae continues on from that, but raises it to another level by extending on the surrounding characteristics (riffs, arpeggios and drum fills, as well as more complex bassplaying). Everything has more colour, but it is subtle, which is exactly how Enslaved have always done things.

I can't wait for that release date, I am so aching to have my real copy in my hands. One of the few bands where actually owning every release is just a MUST.

This album is complex, brilliant and an experience. Truly.

I haven't heard Nachtmystium since their Demise album, long ago. And they weren't too amazing. They do pinkfloydisms now? You've piqued my interest a little.
Yeah, the new one would be their best iyam. It's not incredible, but a good album non the less. And I'm on my 4th listen of Vertebrae atm, it's growing on me more and more. It will definitely be a top 5 album for 08.

Enslaved are one of my favorite bands, I'm one of those people who won't listen until the album comes out and its in my hands.
I am getting all hot and bothered over these comments though, can't wait!

Well be comforted and happy in knowing it belts, really really hard. It doesn't just keep the long line of rapist albums going, it pushes the boundaries they have been working towards. I've said for a long time now Monumension or Below the Lights are my favorites and while Isa and Ruun are incredible albums, I have a strong feeling Vertebrae will grow stronger than both Ruun and Isa over time. Whether it will be better than Below or Momumension time will tell, but I think it has the potential to be their best. Production is 2nd to none, both Grutles and Ivar's vocals are fantastic, it's arrangements are well thought out and the album flows incredibly well as a result of it. It's solid as hell all round, there really isn't anything I can fault it with. Although this is in the peak of the honeymoon period atm so I should probably wait for the dust to clear before I start comparing it against the rest.
