New Enslaved Album

definitely among the year's best. perfect combination of progressive rock and heavy metal. :headbang:
I can't stop listening to Ground. Definitely a must-buy.

Vertebrae is very different indeed, and in a GOOD way. Everything is a MASSIVE step up.

It seems every thing Enslaved ever do is flawless and Vertebrae is no exception. Ivar & Grutle continue to produce excellent material, and Enslaved just continue to be one of the most consistent bands in metal.

Dare I say it, but I think with Vertebrae, Enslaved are establishing themselves as the progressive metal kings. Vertebrae is even better than Ruun, and I didn't think they would pull that off.

Imo Ruun introduced a larger level of atmospherics (Ruun, Heir To The Cosmic Seed), and Vertebrae continues on from that, but raises it to another level by extending on the surrounding characteristics (riffs, arpeggios and drum fills, as well as more complex bassplaying). Everything has more colour, but it is subtle, which is exactly how Enslaved have always done things.

I can't wait for that release date, I am so aching to have my real copy in my hands. One of the few bands where actually owning every release is just a MUST.

This album is complex, brilliant and an experience. Truly.

Well said, Hubster. You summed up everything.:heh:

The names of the songs themselves sound interesting and haunting.
Cant wait to get it, they are banned hereso I have to get it from abroad somehow.

^hmm, it certainly is one of the very closest albums to it this year. I think Vertebrae still needs time for me, I fucking love it but it needs a break. I've played it shit loads. Needs some time out to recover. Though I don't think it will grow better than tmv tbh. I would say that's their best and the best album in metal since Fas imo.

Yes, the place where the Dinos are slaves to the rhythm.

And for me.. It'd be TMV 10 .. Vertebrae 9.5 .. So therefore, Phil, you're always wrong when you disagree with me.

In this day and age I can't believe people still don't know where to download stuff. I honestly think I could train animals, old people etc to get whatever they what with a 5 minute learning curve.

Am I really the only one disappointed with Vertebrae? Enslaved is my 2nd favorite band, but this just isn't up to snuff. It's not even better then Ruun which, while excellent, is a big step below Isa. Monumension is their crowning achievement followed closely by Isa.

Don't get me wrong, this is still a good cd, it's just not Enslaved good.

I've spent the last 3 days listening to this album.
Something is lacking ??
The previous 4 albums were much better.

On the 4th day it hit me...This album is pretty good.
My apologies to Enslaved for questioning their greatness.

I disagree...I personally think it's a lot better than Ruun, which was lacking in my opinion...songs like "Essence" just don't do it for me.

I recently was told by my friend that Monumension is Enslaved's least favourite album as they said it was rushed and didn't have that much thought put into it.

Funny that, it was always my favourite (until vertebrae arrived) and it's really quite interesting and different from the rest of their stuff.
