New Enslaved Album

I recently was told by my friend that Monumension is Enslaved's least favourite album as they said it was rushed and didn't have that much thought put into it.

Funny that, it was always my favorite (until vertebrae arrived) and it's really quite interesting and different from the rest of their stuff.
Is Vertebrae your favorite now? Hmm, I love it more than Isa, but I still prefer Below, Monumension and Ruun a little more than it. They all belt so damn hard it's very difficult to compare.

Monumension rushed? Its the most amazing album they've ever done and it was rushed?!

Vertebrae doesn't touch monumension, but it does come close to ISA. But i might spend too much time comparing albums and deciding which is better than which, when I should be just sitting back and enjoying the penomonal music these guys make. They belt more than a maelstrom of angry studded belts.

I hated monumension at first. And Vertebrae is still getting better after each listen even after like 30 - 40 listens.

Well, i didn't read this.. My mate said they said it in a Zero Tolerance interview.

And yes, Vertebrae is my favourite album of theirs and Monumension has now been relegated to 2nd place.

I'm really glad that so many of u guys like enslaved here, but it seems like enslaved fans are the kings of album comparison. i mean, would u compare morningrise to watershed? i look at each enslaved album in it's own light. while isa is more technical than vertebrae, i feel that a comparison of any enslaved record and vertebrae takes away from what vertebrae is.

I don't know what's not to like!! The songwriting is excellent as is the musicianship. The production is stellar. Enslaved are always going to push musical boundaries, one reason why their one of my all -time favorite bands. Vertebrae, is Enslaved, making another fantastic contribution to metal. I feel sorry for listeners who are missing the boat on Enslaved, but to each his own. A good Enslaved article; www.avantgarde-metal.com

It's a fucking fantastic release, as is everything they do, yet I'm still thinking I prefer Ruun and BTL. Maybe I just need more time for it to completely sink in. It took me a while to appreciate BTL. With Ruun, it was pure love at first listen

fakk this is a good album, it just keeps on growing on me. I fell in love with Clouds and Ground instantly, now I'm hooked on the latter half of the album; Reflection, Center, and The Watcher.

Guide me, watcher in the skies
Transform the forces of the dead
In my dreams I'll hunt them down
I now know the truth!

I felt the same way about Ruun. I like it more than Isa.
Below the Lights is still my favorite, but Vertebrae keeps getting better with each listen. They are clearly gods, and after hearing the new songs live I have even more appreciation for Vertebrae.

put this album in yesterday for the first time in a couple weeks. how can something be so catchy yet such an enigma of an album?? this cd continues to give me goosebumps even after months of listening.

great album, but a little inconsistent. i was expecting a little more, however (big however), clouds and ground are among the best enslaved songs ever imo. this album has put me into an enslaved marathon while i write all these godawful papers due tomorrow.

mardraum time, baby.

Because asking people to provide evidence for silly assertions is totally trolling... :Smug:

lol, dumb troll. good luck here, i look forward to reading ur farewell thread in a month, actually if u could just add on to blacksession's thread that'd be great.

Well, basically Mr. Requiem your question is absurd. For evidence to my point that Enslaved are "pushing musical boundaries" If you got it in you, I suggest listening to their whole cataloque, start in the beginning, fuck man I'm so sure of my "silly assertion" I'll say start at "Monumension" and listen up to "Vertebrae", and if you don't hear a pushing of musical boundaries(in metal), a superb growth or evolution in Enslaved's songwriting, musicianship and quality of production, well then, either your not attentively listening, your not fucking breathing, or you just have no idea what your talking about. The proof of the mighty Enslaved lies not in my opinion but, in listening to the band. I'd like you to back up, why my assertion is "silly." And if you can't, leave your computer on, go sit in the fucking corner, pay attention, and maybe you might learn something! Don't post if you have nothing valuable and substantiative to say. Too many fucking kids on this board, and some really intelligient musical people, who seem to have been here awhile. Peace.
