Yeah, I was really intrigued after I heard him say not to buy EZ Drummer 2 because he was releasing a new "revolutionary" product...
1. This isn't even in the same price range as EZDrummer 2. EZDrummer is $150, Drumforge's intro price is $250 and then $300 after that. I, and I'm sure many others, were thinking this was going to compete price-wise and be in the $100-150 range. I would have bought it for $100, but $250 is steep for a modern drum program that doesn't even use its own plugin format.
2. I'm not really sure what's "revolutionary" about this, the only thing different from most of the commercial plugins out there is there's different microphones for each drum and two different OH setups...? Maybe if they would've included more samples on each drum's page, I'd be able to get into it more.
3. The raw samples on the website sound terrible. I've owned, or currently own, several of the snares that are in this pack and I can get completely raw sounds out of them, with only one microphone on top, that are just as good, if not better than, the processed sounds in this library.
4. The clips don't show if there's multiple tunings for each drum or not. Some of those snares are completely unusable to me because of the super apparent ring. I realize a lot of guys here like that tone for the more death metal type stuff, but it'd be nice if they included muffled and unmuffled samples in this instance. My two favorite snares in my collection - a Ludwig Acrolite and Supraphonice are among my least favorites in this pack; which literally sound nothing like mine. A lot of the samples sound really choked.
5. I'm actually really excited about the cymbals in this pack, though. Paiste Dark Energy are some of my favorites and I really wish I would've sampled mine before I got rid of them... Would've liked to've seen more complete packs of cymbals (mostly in the Zildjian K range), but they all sound quite nice, regardless.
