new metallica song.

Same 'ol, Same 'ol!
Gotta hear it properly though, huh?

Like the "...Justice" style solo, though

Hehehe,

Dude, what did you expect???

Metallica blew their load (no pun intended, I swear) in the 80's.

Anthrax is the slow burning lover!:p

the second part sounded better and actually somewhat interesting, though the solo at the beginning of the second part (if you can call it a solo) sounded like the usual modern day Kirk lameness, and Lars is an absolutely talentless and boring hack as usual

it's a lot better than the new Slayer song though I must say... then again pretty much anything is better than that boring, generic piece of crap

but both the new Slayer song and Metallica song share one thing in common... I've heard it all before, it's nothing new (though I can't fully say that about the Metallica song as it's in a bad quality live recording and not the full song)

metallica could come up with the greatest metal song in history and, people would say it sucks or, they heard it before or, whatever. They've sealed their own fate with most old school metal heads . to post something about metallica on this board and expect anything but negativity is crazy.

i have to hear it in the studio. after 20 some years of touring james's voice is gone live and, why they didn't pick a bass player with a hetfield like voice who could do backups is beyond me. Rob's seems cool and is a great bass player but at this stage they need somebody to go that extra mile. like that jason newsted guy from voivod, they should have grabbed him while he was available.

as for that slayer comment. they've made their whole career from not taking risks and, bashing out the same old stuff. why would they change now. their fan base likes it that way.

well this should give you a much better quality link....

Having listened to it I have to say i'm pretty pleased with it, much better than their eforts of the last decade or so. I'd imagine though that most people will slag the shit outta their next album (when it comes out) regardless of whether its good or not, it seems to be more popular to bash them than like them these days.

Sounded shit to me sorry, adn I dont mean the audio quality. The singing is still that crappy whining and the riff still sounds like they're trying desperately to be contemporary and failing.

Pfffeh... it's still pretty lame, though much better than st.anger...
This is like Load&St.Anger mixed together...

I hate the whiny choruses... can't he just not get all fuckin' EMO on us???

Some parts of the 2nd half of the song were decent though... we'll see. But I don't expect to come in my pants when the album's out in what 2011???

I'll give it the benefit of the doubt for now becuase the audio isn't too hot right now

Ok, I'm pretty much THE Metallica fan, but I kept expecting a Skolnick/Peterson solo to break out and Chuck Billy to give us some of his gutteral power. There's something very Testamenty in the breakdown and the bridge.

Especially somewhere around the 6:10 mark.

Still, I'm going to hold out. They may be just feeling out some new material that will never see the studio proper.

"Death is Not the End"?

I agree, an improvement but nothing special at all. At least there is a hope that jamez will be alowed to redo out of tune vocals in the studeo now bob rock has fucked off...

that's false, Metallica is very well capable of writing creative, sophisticated music (they hit their peak on "...and Justice for All"), but they decided to go pop metal and sell out with the black album, and despite one decent song or so every couple albums, have been going down the tube ever since... the new song simply reaffirms this, they have nothing left
