What do you prefer, the first 3 albums or the last 3, and why?

Ehh... Deliverance was something of a disappointment for me. It's not bad, it just doesn't click with me the way the other 3 albums do.

i guess the last 3 because i'm never NOT in the mood to listen to them.
the first three opeth albums are among my favorite albums, but with orcird and morningrise, there are occasions when i'm just not really in the mood to listen to them.

I prefer the middle three... plus Deliverance, although all the albums are nothing less than masterpieces.

First 2 in particular, and also MAYH. I prefer the whole melodic-twin-independant-guitar thing of the first 2, and MAYH was my first so that holds a special place for me. Deliverance is quite cool, I dislike BWP, and SL, while it is a perfectly good album, doesn't do alot for me (atleast not to the extent of the first 3, I don't hate it or anything, I just can never get motivated to listen to it, I go to pick it up and think "nah, I'll listen to Orchid instead.....")

When I choose what album to listen to, my hand always goes straight for Still Life. Heheh.

That's my favourite, and my favourite era of Opeth as of yet.

deliverance was a slight let down for me as well.. but maybe it still needs to grow into me

as for favourites, i love morningrise, MAYH, still life and BWP. and the middle 2 of those the best as well

still life is #1, and morningrise is #2, but overall i do think the style of the last four albums is better, mostly because the music is more mature and complex.

my fav albums are the first 2 however i dont listen to them much at all. I save them for maybe once every 2 months... but besides that i listen to my arms your hearst through deliverance muchhh more...
