yeah, the drums were programmed. i used ticks to program them with a track for each drum and cymbal running into drumagog. so there was never any midi for these drums. sorry.

For the record, I think maybe the guitar(s)/pickup(s) used, and/or the interface/di used were probably not that great, I tried these DIs through a bunch of chains, finally settled on a reamp done with a 5150. There is a pretty muddy and kinda starving sound that I've never had before with any other DIs. Curious to know what guitar/pickups, etc. were used.

it was a fender telecaster (i'm pretty sure it has stock pickups) into the instrument input on my presonus firestudio. the problem must be coming from the guitar because the bass di sounds great to me.

I'm actually digging the drums (kick/snare and toms) a lot. It's like they cut through the mix so easily. Can you give us a few details on them ?
 
I'm away from home, using my moms laptop and really cheap ipod earbuds as monitors. Downloaded the reaper evaluation, so this will make good practice to feel out the program with. I'm going to see what kind of abomination I can make of this without fully converting my mom's laptop into a DAW, haha.
