New Wave of NWOBHM and classic traditiona metal REBORN!!!!

Howie Bentley of Cauldron Born has a new project after 7 years of silence, alled Briton Rites. www.myspace.com/britonrites
Pretty cool doomy stuff, a lot different than his Cauldron Born shredding.

yeah.....he was on the Hellride forum talking about it. Not really into the doom stuff.

Also check out the band In Solitude. Pretty good stuff. Nothing original but nice to hear more bands playing the classic style.

You need to check out Bullet as well. In the same vain as above mentioned bands. Great stuff by the way. I love this kinda metal...

Brian mentioned Wolf. They are a given...

I hear some King Diamond/Mercyful Fate, some Helstar, some Accept, some Anthem, some Maiden/Priest and especially some old Omen.

You have my attention simply by the mention of OMEN!!!!

I think early OMEN might be the most underrated US Metal of all time!

(And that comes from someone who has a MANILLA ROAD pic in his signature!)

I just spun the new disc by this band Ravage. Metal Blade just signed them and is putting out the CD, and it's pretty good stuff in this vain.

These guys are great and they are on tour right now, hitting the west coast and PNW this coming week.

I hosted their show here in Atlanta a couple of Fridays ago and they did not disappoint.

Now I'm looking forward to hosting Ravage again on Oct 23rd as they headline the first Pathfinder MetalFest - featuring ASKA, Twisted Tower Dire, and many more traditional metal bands.

:kickass:

that is a great line up for Pathfinder metalfest. I am very jealous.

I like some of the "new bands" playing traditional metal, but Wolf is the best in my opinion.

Yap, just look at my sig :worship:

Great calls on Enforcer, Hellhound and Metalucifer. Enforcer was the first band to request me to add them on MySpace I followed all this years until they finally released their great debut. Hellhound albums (both of them) are a sure bet for any speed metal fan, and as for Metalucifer (the Japanese line-up) even if getting their albums is difficult it worth to have them. The last one has come a bit more polished and tamed, but the first three are wonderful.

Also good to see that Omen is mentioned here, very underrated epic metal band (but avoid the fourth and fifth LPs). Still active sadly without Kimball or Goocher, but I'm still hope they come with a good new album.

Aska has become better with each album since "Nine Tongues" IMO, I have the first two as MP3s but since they're so difficult to get, I concentrate on the last three. I think the last one is their most mature work to the date and very powerful.

P.S. And also I want to throw some names in here: Black Tide (USA), Ossian (HUN), Obstruction (HUN), Sister Sin (SWE), Crystal Viper (POL), Malediction (FR, sadly split), Made Of Iron (GRE), Black Steel (ATL), Bone Shaker (USA), Benedictum (USA), Cypher Seer (BRA/USA), Phantom-X (USA), Crescent Shield (USA), Final Stage (CAN), Majesty (GER), Mesmerize (ITA)

I love nwobhm and traditional metal!!!

I'm really digging RAM! Some of my favorites that have not been mentioned are In Solitude, Crescent Shield, Strikelight, Doomsword, and Witchcraft (maybe more psych than metal). 3 inches of blood is pretty good too.

Absolutely - OMEN were awesome back in the day - I've seen some live videos of the new lineup and it actually sounds pretty close to the old school Omen we love(d).

Btw, I forgot to mention it yesterday, but the new RAM album also reminds me a lot of the first two Virgin Steele albums (which were AWESOME! Way better than anything they did afterwards).

All right, now you have my attention, since I've been a fan of those albums for a really, really long time. I agree about them being their best work, too - the only post-Starr VS album I actually like is "Noble Savage", and even that isn't as good.

I saw their footage on one of the KEEP IT TRUE DVDs.
It's a shame that a band like that never plays the US.

I hope with this resurgence of trad metal that some of the long running US bands get the chance to get on some tours.
