NFL 2014

So in the official reply:

In this case, Bryant took two steps and lunged toward the goal line. Why was this not an "act common to the game?" Because, by NFL rules, Bryant did it while going to the ground. He never established himself as "upright." Steratore, in Sunday's official pool report, said: "In our judgment, [Bryant] … continued to fall and never had another act common to the game."

If that's questionable, and given the widespread disbelief, it obviously is, then the play still needs to stand. Hell, they gave the Packers a completion despite review on a ball that clearly nosedived into the dirt. Apparently some call in the Colts/Broncos game went the opposite way if I heard right (wasn't watching). Ridiculous. Like I said, it wasn't why Dallas lost, but this is still terrible officiating and a bad rule that supposedly "makes things clear". The competition committee needs to clean this up, but as long as asshats like Mara are alive, probably won't be.

The league's Competition Committee considered alternatives to the "Process Rule" during the spring of 2011 but ultimately recommended no changes. Why?

"It makes it easier to officiate," New York Giants owner John Mara, a member of the committee, said in 2011. "It's a bright line that you can draw.

This rule nor Mara ever looked very bright.

Shit's going to be interesting. I just don't want the Patriots to win, ugh.

I think the Colts would stand a better chance against the Seahawks if they made it to the SB, but I'm not really rooting for anyone in the game. It'll be good no matter what.

The Broncos as a team just did not show up today, it was almost like they gave up at halftime. Pretty sad really.

The play you're referring to, probably, is where the Colts PR got destroyed but held on to the ball for like a split second and kept possession for the Colts.

...and only a few more years of Romo choke jobs :(

Take your butthurt to the NFL 2015 thread. The only choking in the East this year was in Philly. Romo even had a higher PR than Rodgers today. Can't pin anything this year on him, bad back/ribs/finger/knee and all.

Dallas is going to own the East again next year.

Murray and Bryant made up the choking for Romo this time. Nice to see the Cowboys stick together.

As for 2015, you don't have the slightest clue until free agency and the draft.

Also, do we really need a new NFL thread every year? We should just have one permanent NFL thread.

Maybe you don't have any ideas about next year for your team, but some fans pay attention to things.

I like how outperforming expectations for the year by like 8-9 games by some predictions is "choking". I guess everyone chokes other than the Super Bowl winners.

New threads help keep new talk and old talk separate, and no one has complained until you today. Congratulations.

Still can't get over choking a game and a half lead by losing to the deadskins can you.

NFC East in 2015:

1. Dallas
2. NY
3. Philly
4. Wash

Enjoy

^lol^ Wow, I never see Stephen A and Bayless agree on anything and they both agree it was a catch - for the same reason. Dez had total control and lunged for the goal line. Not even remotely similar to the Johnson play (which still should have been a catch also).

Dak, ya know, after watching over and over again today and listening to other perspectives and explanations... I might have to admit I might be wrong

:erk:

Blandino issued another statement and just made it look so much worse for him:

“There’s judgment involved in all of these plays,” Blandino said. “We felt it was indisputable that’s not what Bryant did. He was just trying to gain control of it.”

Only a goddamn idiot (or maybe someone worried about more pics circulating of him getting off a particular bus) would watch Dez put that ball in his left hand and extend it out, and say he was "[indisputably] trying to gain control of it".

Let's pour more salt

Tony Romo is the first quarterback in NFL history to have his team lose in the playoffs while having a 125+ qb rating.

This stat is so Tony Romo it hurts.

Poor guy. I've been saying it's not Romo for a long time. You can't give up 50 yard TDs or whatever on 3rd and 16. It's still the defense that is the problem right now - that and Murray's ball protection issues. Not that there is ever a great time for a fumble, but he picks the worst.

Why are they going for a low percentage play on 4th and short anyway? It was a great throw, but still, I would've just played for the first down there.
