My biggest surprise is definitely Atlanta. The scores didn't indicate the asswhooping Atlanta put on their division rivals. Although I have never been a Vick basher but always thought he was mediocre, taking his legs into consideration as well, but he might have me convinced that even without a great vertical passing game, he can still go far as long as the defense is strong. The guy was actually reading defenses running an option a few times (which I thought was impossible in the NFL except as a wrinkle/trick play) and running it convincingly.
Next big surprise is Minnesota. Brad Johnson can will a win for this team. I watched Sportscenter a couple of times where it showed Peppers, pulling him backwards and he still completed the pass for a first down as well as his reaction last week on the TD and this week on the fake field-goal.
Johnson will rarely put up Peytonesque numbers, but his energy and heart can help build serious chemistry on his team which The Vikes have been missing for a while. I don't expect them to make a SB appearance, but they will make some noise this year.
My disappointments this year are Miami and Washington.
I was never big on Culpepper, but compared to Fiedler, Frerrotte etc. (insert ANY post Marino Fin QB here) I thought he would look like a world beater. He looks terrible as does the OL.
Despite washington's offenseless pre-season, I thought they would click start to click. Maybe I was wrong.
