Night Is The New Day album sales....

Not being in any stores isn't really helping much. The new Swallow The Sun sold 400 last week. Katatonia must have sold more than that. I hope they at least sold 1000. I would like to know if they at least cracked the Billboard 200 and if they got placement on the heatseeker chart.

* I see they are #35 on the Billboard independent album charts.

Doesn't say how many sold though.

Not including internet(where I think most people buy it) and small speciality music shops. Those sales figures don't mean shit.

Katatonia – Night Is The New Day first week scans at 2273 copies and landed postition #35 on the Billboard Independent Chart. It's also at #38 on the indie chart in Canada.

That's fucking bullshit! ONLY 2000 copies???? Very depressing for a band like katatonia who have just released the best album of their career.

This world sucks. Should be like 20, 000...at least!

Edit: Also, does anyone have any info on how well TGCD sold worldwide...total???

Well they need a better distributor in the USA. I don't see many Peaceville releases anywhere. The only time I saw Katatonia cds was when they were first put out (LFDGD-NITND) but there was always only one cd on hand. It's a diff story with specialty shops, but usually they end up being more money. I buy online anyways.

I am glad to see that it did as good as it did. The new Hypocrisy only sold 1400 and they have toured the US many times on some big tours.

I hope they get on a label that pushes the fuck out of them and get them in the spot that they deserve. There is no reason that Katatonia should not be on the level of Opeth or Porcupine Tree in the US.

Maybe because the new Hypocrisy is garbage.

Katatonia would be on that level if they had Roadrunner backing them. They seem happy with Peaceville though...

With an album like this there's no reason why it shouldn't be selling at least in the ballpark of Opeth numbers, and imo above that. As I've said before I think Roadrunner would be the surest way to somewhat achieve this. By this point in my life I'm used to things of true quality going unrecognized. It's just a sad fact of life.
