Perhaps you should try their new album Century Child, it's less operatic when it comes to vocals. I like Tarja's more 'warm' style of singing on that album.

"Feel For You" is a good example of this.. Sounds awesome, although I like their ealier albums a lot too.

First song I ever heard from them was "Come Cover Me"... Damn, that one is soo good - Totally hooked me :)

Btw.. Am I the only one who thinks "Sleeping Sun" is one of the most beautiful songs ever?

Yo! I'm a Nightwish fan too! They are really something, all you guys are right, Tarja is the best female singer in metal. I have Wishmaster and Century Child. Its interesting to hear the differences between them, I like how they added male vox to CC.

Who is that vocalist? Is it another member? Because they sound really good together, i must say.

The Bassist is the male singer on Century Child.
I really do like this band, and I have all their albums but have yet to acquire the live cd. I have a couple of songs off it and it sounds excellent...

I love Nighwish! I have their DVD of a concert. Awesome stuff. Whenever people here ask about other bands, I always post:

Nighwish
After Forever
Therion

After Forver is a lot like Nighwish. And Therion...wow...can you say "choirs?"

What are those other bands than Nightwish like?

I do like Nightwish. Tarja's operatic voice can get a bit. . . ehhh. . . after a while. I may check out the songs that were mentioned on the thread.

How does this disc measure up to their last two releases? Is the disc mellower over all since she sings in a "warm" way? I get a bit tired of the operatic style also which is why I didn't get the new one along with the fact that they didn't really offer anything different with these past two releases. I guess that's why I like Angels Fall First the best.

Anyone listen to Within Temptation's Mother Earth disc or Brave's new one Searching for the Sun? Both of these vocalist are high on my list for female singers.

It's not mellower, at least in comparison to Wishmaster. It surely doesn't get any heavier than Oceanborn but I think Century Child must be at least their 2nd heaviest album. It's only that Tarja chooses to use less operatic style on the Century Child (still it's quite far from being something that an average female rock vocalist would do). That's the main difference in the vocals.

Within Temptation's singer, Sharon Den Adel, is my favorite female singer. I think she's just amazing.

That sounds good it looks like I'll have to add it to my next order.
