NILE guitar lesson (guitar world summer 2010 issue)

Yeah I saw them talking about the 8 thing before and incorporated into some of my own playing, great for grooving at high tempo's.

Really wish they'd up the production values of these type of vids- the tones are always horrible and messy. The rigs they've got them playing through are pathetic and the mics are just laid over the amps. Great...

It'd be so much easier to go around with a small interface and laptop loaded with a daw and some nice ampsims(surely a magazine could get free revalver/amplitune etc..) and just use a pair of speakers for them to monitor through. It'd sound better and let them work on the tone later if necessary.

Do they only practice for the studio sessions or something?
Cos every time I've seen vids of them doing a lesson or "Betcha Can't Play This" segment thing, they never fail to play really badly.

Lies/\

They also always do black seeds of vengeance in these videos. But i think it's that they don't play well, not that they can't. Because they sound awsome on record.

Wow. Nile didnt get this much shit until they started to do these guitar "lessons" ..

yeah, their last guitar lesson video was even worse
but still i think it suits them quite well,

its like chris barnes singing his stuff randomly without having a plan of the rythm

when i first saw six feet under i thought for sure that his monitor system isn't working, cause he was off all the time
now i've seen them four times and it has always been the same, and i actually quite like it
i mean, if i see necrophagist live and they're sloppy as fuck i'd be pissed, but if its nile or SFU i really don't care, somehow a little randomness just fits them perfectly

i just wouldn't wanna be the engeneer to track or edit them haha

It's okay, not everyone is a robot with Chris Broderick-like perfection. It doesn't make me not enjoy Nile any more but it's definitely another example of how the internet can demystify things. Not always in a positive way, sometimes ignorance IS bliss.

Not sure where all this shit about "sloppy" and "terrible players" comes from. Of course they're not going to be 100% tight with no backing track or drum track behind them.

I do wish they'd do something other than Black Seeds of Vengeance, though. Seems like every single instructional video they've done has been BSOV or random shit when Karl's drunk.
