Non-Metal Bands covering metal tunes..?

Hmm well there is the series of "String Quartet tribute to..." series that has a tribute to ( off the top of her head ) Iron Maiden and Slayer. It's like cellos and violinsand stuff. :p no vocals tho'. :(

Good call - I think they're 'Apocolyptica' or something like that.

Funny that it's always metal bands covering pop tunes hardly ever ther other way around.

What about Johnny Cash doing NIN's 'Hurt' is awesome

I think the two groups are different, and from what I hear most people go for Apocalyptica. Not sure though, I onky know a friend bought the String Quartet's Tribute to Incubus and told me they had one for Maiden .

There's a lounge jazz version of 'Number of the Beast'... forgotten the name of the band though.
Well there were a couple of americans who did some excellent ... and I mean EXCELLENT lounge versions of some old Dream Theater songs. Portnoy used to have it played over the PA during the breaks. They never released it on CD and I don't have the mp3s anymore - shame :(

One recent tune which comes to mind is

Shakira - Back in Black (its on her excellent new live DVD)
