Non-Metal bands?

Sure, I listen to all kinds of different music. WHat kind do you wish to talk about- surely you didnt post this without an ulterior motive.

No alterior motive, I just wanna see how many people are interested in genre's that aren't metal, is all. Now that I look back, my original post sounds quite sarcastic, so let me expand:

I enjoy listening to Rusted Root (good God can these guys play), Jamaroquai (which is right next to Katatonia on my playlist), plus all sorts of post-rock (at the moment, my favorites are Sigur Ros, Fly Pan Am, Esmerine, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, and A Silver Mt. Zion, who's new CD, This Is Our Punk Rock (Three Rusted Satellites Gather & Sing) is due out soon. I also listen some classical, although I really should listen to more of it.

There we go, if anyone has any non-metal interests, post them here. Maybe we (Or I) can get some new bands tolisten to.

I am not a big expert outside metal world,as I am not inside it.
But I do listen to some jazz, funk, classical, prog rock and that's about it I think.

Well, I am right now enjoying lovely oldies.... Sealed with a Kiss, I'll Never Fall in Love Again, Eternal Flame... :tickled:

I also listen to a LOT of Christian music, since uhhhh I'm Christian. Oh, and some borderline pop. :p

While I'm at work, I like listening to country music. It's better for background music and more soothing than some dude yelling at me with blast beats going.

I listen to a lot of hardcore too.

I listen to non-metal stuff. I like a lot of old punk (Sex Pistols, X Ray Spex and that sort of thing), a bit of folk music (English and Celtic mostly - I even like those sectarian Northern Irish songs), and classical of course. I don't like much "urban" music, apart from a bit of drum'n'bass now and then, and I'm not a fan of modern "rock", but other than that, I'll give anything the once-over.

Smog, Will Oldham, Morrissey/Smiths, Richard Buckner, Songs:Ohia, Leonard Cohen, Modern Lovers, Bad Religion, Willie Nelson, Freakwater, The Zombies, The Kinks, Hayden... these are just a few of the non-metal things that I listen to. There are many others, these are just off the top of my head.

You have good taste ffanatic- I must say I love Sigor Ros- very very good. Ive never heard any jamiroquai though.

Well, thank you very much. And BTW, Jamiroquai was a band that had some popularity in the US in the mid/late nineties with a song called Virtual Insanity. They also had a song featured on the Godzilla soundtrack. They play kind of a mix between hip-hop, funk and rock. Very catchy stuff. I'm starting to get into Jethro Tull, and I can actually play Bouree on my flute. Sounds like I'll have to check out Tenhi and Leo Kottke.

I too, love both the Beatles and The Doors, as well as the Rolling Stones. In fact I'd say the Rolling Stones are easily one of my fav bands of all time. As for country, I love WIllie Nelson- but that is it- everyone kinda likes Johnny Cash though. I like BLuegrass- but i dont own any albums- Ill just watch it when its on TV( I saw I thing the scruggs brothers on Austin City Limits- they were damn good). Of course there is so much more- but why bore everyone?
